    Best dining in NYC!

We had dinner here on April 28th as a party of three and loved the whole dining expierence from the decor to the cuisine and fantastic service. We stayed in NYC for 7 days and ate at many of the top Zagat restaurants and this was by far the best. We never felt like we were treated like "out of towners" and the food was HOT and delicious! YOU must make your reservation here! As we left for the evening we were handed a mini coffee cake for breakfast to enjoy the next morning!

Accolades - should be Zagat #1

My daughter likes the Union Square Cafe food slightly better and the Eleven Madison ambience someone in their style choice but I can see that Gramercy Tavern will still be my semi-annual gathering place for the girls - a tradition much better than the tea at the Plaza. Danny Meyer's restaurants still are in the running - we've gone to all of them - Tabla, Blue Smoke, Eleven Madison and Union Square Cafe. We still have repeated the GT four times - both the dining room and Tavern and not just restaurant week - the Tavern does not have the service that the Dining Room has. I am happy for restaurant week, - my daughter's friends got to experience the service of four star restaurants and one who is not a dessert person is still raving about the apple tatin and sorbet. The consomme broth for the meat and the soup are excellent. If only I could blend Eleven Madison and GT together - it would be perfect.

    Excellent service, mixed food

Gorgeous room and really great service, but for $150/person I was expecting more from the food. The rabbit was OK, but was accompanied by some boring meat that tasted like cafeteria chicken, and the sauce was way too salty. The hamachi appetizer was good, but I could've had it at a good sushi place just as easily. The sour cream panna cotta was amazing, as was the cashew ice cream. I'd go back with high hopes.

    Don't miss

Wonderful experience. Food, service and wine were perfect. They provided a lot of nice extras during the meal. At the end of the meal, the server brought over 2 to go bags each with a fresh muffin for breakfast. It was a nice unexptected touch. I will go back.

Fabulous. A faultless meal and impeccable service from start to finish. Have eaten in many wonderful restaurants around the globe, and this is up there with the best of them. I would especially recommend the the tasting menus. It's reputation is thoroughly deserved.

    Best Service

From the time we were greated with Happy Anniversary through the complimentary champagne and extra complimentary dessert, the service was impeccable. We were seated in the main dining room. While we ate, we noticed the busboy constantly shining the silverware when he wasnt busy refilling our water or bread. The waitress gave her suggestions and showed a great knowledge of both the menu and the food. We mentioned a specific food allergy to the waitress and every person that served us our food made sure to mention there was none of the allergic content in the serving. The food itself was terrific. Dont miss the crabmeat fondue appetizer. The only surprise was that the bread was not warm. Surprisingly, we were never rushed during the meal and would definitely return.
