    My favorite

This is my favorite restaurant in the city. The food is great without being over-conceptualized. The sweetbreads and the duck are exceptionaly good in the main dining room, and the chicken liver crostini and the fish stew are my favorites in the tavern (though the fresh bacon is pretty darn good too). Everything is good. In my opinion, they have the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff of any restaurant in the city. It's truly a delight to walk into this restaurant. Also, the food in the tavern is incredible and cheap, so don't think that you have to make a reservation for the back to get good food (though if you've never been, maybe you should get the full experience).

We've been to this restaurant twice in the past year and cannot understand why it continues to be among the most popular in NYC. The food was mediocre -- not that interesting or tasty given its reputation. We were there for a special occasion for one of our visits are were disappointed with the food choices, including the lack of salad options, the tasteless fish and especially the desserts (a little chocolate would be appreciated) The only stand outs were the courteous service and the cheese course. Given the myriad of choices in NYC, we will not be going back.

    Treat yourself

Still a winner after all these years. Never fails to produce a memorable experience. One of the few destination dining spots that lives up to it's reputation and price.

    Definitely will return

We went for lunch. Service was prompt and down-to-earth. atmosphere is not stuffy but very easy and relaxed. We think it was really good value. We had rabbit, lobster, chicken and foie gras, plus dessert and drinks. everything was really good. each plate was really exciting, full of color and done to perfection. We really enjoyed our lunch experience. totally will go back soon.

    Best Food, Best Service.

The food here is excellent, as is the service. We ate in the main dining room, and ordered from the three course $76 menu. I ordered the rabbit, which was excellent. It was extremely soft and tender, it fell right off the bone. The portions were more than enough. All in all, excellent dining experience.

    This place rocks.

Every time I'm in the city, I *must* go here. The food is fabulous, the service impeccable. Even on chaotic, busy nights when waiting for your food takes a bit longer, the staff is consistently attentive and professional. This place seriously rocks.

Best Food in NY without question

This place is amazing. The food is spectacular. The servers are more than just knowledgable. And the price, you are getting a bargain for the culinary experience you are getting. I absolutely love this place.
