We had dinner w friends here and we found the food not that interesting and memorable as it was supposed to be, taking in consideration it's pretty expensive....so i wouldn't go back ....the service outstanding though..

I've been going for years, and it's still an ideal restaurant experience. Superb food with friendly, attnentive service. Completely worth the expense. I don't know what else anyone could want out of a meal.

The actual experience at Gramercy Tavern was really lovely: the staff were nice, the room was beautiful, and our waiter was delightful. Then came the food. As a seasoned NYC diner, I am fully aware that there are many many restaurants in this city that serve superior food. This was my second time at GT and both times I left saying "eh, I'd rather have my money than that food in my stomach." That's not how you want to feel after leaving a well regarded establishment. This time around, I had the scallops and pork. The scallops were acceptable and the pork was fair (uninventive but done properly). Everything was alright but there were no memorable dishes, nothing sensationally prepared, just nothing I would ever rave about to another person. For a restaurant at this level and price point, I think we as diners deserve a better experience. I won't be returning unless it's on someone else's dime.

I had HIGH, HIGH expectations from this place because my boyfriend has been praising it for years. His parents took him there once years ago. So we went there today for his mother's birthday. We all had the Autumn Tasting Menu ($116/person). The scallops were alright (not too fresh), the dumplings were too salty. Other than that, everything else was great. However, I shouldn't even be saying "..other than that", what I should have said was "Amazing overall!!". I expected every course to be on point and it was not. I am very disappointed that Gramercy Tavern did not leave me satisfied. Mystery solved, Gramercy Tavern is not all it's cracked up to be.

I was thoroughly disappointed by the food. The open ravioli of lamb was mediocre at best and the main course which consisted of the duck breast & confit had way too much sauce and was a little salty. I definitely don’t think it was worth the $88 pre-fixe and it left me wondering what the hype was all about. You can definitely do better in NY for $125 a plate.

We have been to Gramercy several times and it is always a treat. WE are in the city a few times a year and it wouldn't feel like a trip to NYC w/o dining here. The Tasting Menu is always amazing (Hint: The Smoked Trout is perfection on a plate) and , if you have room, the cheese course is also highly recommended. Leave a little room for coffee, which is full-bodied and robust, at the end. The cocktails are stong - and unique - so one is always more than enough. If you are loooking for a special place in the city, then Gramercy may be it. For us, it always feels like coming home.

while it wasn't decadent or out-of-this world, the dishes' flavors combined and developed nicely on the palate. the cucumber soup was particularly pleasing on this hellishly hot summer day, and the strawberry pie was just delightful. the atmosphere is clean cut and understated - the perfect setting for a long lunch catching up with a friend.
