Exceptional Dining Experience
I went this past summer and the service was outstanding, very attentive and timely. My food was absolutely delicious, particularly the black linguini with seafood and chorizo. My dining buddy did not enjoy her meal as much as I did, but I also feel that I am better at picking dishes to order, hah. This place is perfect for a special occasion and they have a great wine list as well.

Do people actually come here to eat?
My waiter was very attentive - too attentive. Maybe because it was early and not very busy. The wine list is good, but what's up with the food? I got the Sea Bass. Came out in 5 minutes... Wasn't good. Not for the price. I like the ambiance, but there are soooooo many other places in NY, i won't be eating here again.

Everything and More!
Went to Gramercy with wife to celebrate 3rd Anniversary last night and from the minute we walked in the door we were treated like royalty, even though there were over 150 people in restaurant. This is a level of service you just don't see anywhere else. It is unobtrusive but omnipotent. Informative and smart while being subdued. Our server Allan was one of the most professional, informed and cordial waiters I have ever encountered in 25 years of dining out in NYC. The rest of the staff complimented him perfectly. The was was very good, including the Lobster Salad and the Rack of Lamb (off the bone) which was perfectly cooked. Desserts were not overstated while consisting of the finest chocolate and flavors. The Ethiopan French Pressed coffee with cardoman, orange and spices was the most unique cup I have ever tasted. This is the place for the quintessential NY meal and experience. Thanks GT for a great night!!

Great value in the tavern/bar menu
My husband and I went to Gramercy Tavern last night to celebrate our 1st anniversary. I was really impressed by the menu in the tavern part (not the dining room). The food was great, the prices were reasonable, and the ambience was very nice. Low key, but not cramped, and not too loud. We shared three appetizers, two mains, two desserts, a bottle of water, and two glasses of wine for $120. I've also eaten in the dining room which was lovely, but not a very good value.

Over-Rated!! Over-Rated!!
Review right below is spot on. Service is above par for NYC and the space is great but food is medicore at best. Price to experience makes Gramercy Tavern a huge disappointment.

Excellent Service, Lack of Food Luster
I celebrated my birthday here. The restaurants ambiance was perfect for bringing in a new year. However, the food was, I hate to say, uninspiring. The cost to quality ratio was disappointing. Appetizers met our expectations. The entrees however, lacked luster. The "braised pork" dish seemed more like a few pieces of Canadian Bacon slathered in a rich sauce. The sea bass was a thin and extremely oversalted fillet. A little sad after all the hype.

Unbelievable!
went here to celebrate the big 40 and this place really does live up to the expectations! everyone very friendly..sat at bar in the tavern had a drink then went to formal dining room...my girlfriend thought her app and main course were a little too salty (i tasted and agreed) but really everything was very very good! would go back and eat in the less formal tavern section with the bar...diff menu too. you should def go if u can get a res:)
