Good, not really the best anymore
This cannot be the 2nd best restaurant in the country (from daily meals 101 best us restaurants). 10 years ago, maybe, today no. yes the food is good, yes the people that work there are fantastic, yes sometimes the dishes are exceptional. but..the atmosphere is like a diner, people wear tee shirts (shorts in the summer); the service is somewhat rushed, and all this for $115 for a 1 hour meal. to me, it is just not that special anymore.

My wife and I have gone to Gramercy Tavern at least twice a year since 2007 and it is reliably phenomenal. I cannot imagine where there people are eating that they don't think it is worth the money. We were back this past week and, as always, everything was memorable. At least everyone agrees the service is superior, which it is. Every time. Without fail. In a city where there is plenty that is overpriced, this is one thing that is worth the money.

Disappointed as well
I too had gone many times previously but it has been sometime since I have gone to GT. Service was great, atmosphere was great, wine pairing was great, but the food except for desert was tasteless. Really disappointed....

Downhill from the 1990s
I have eaten at GT at least a two dozen times over the past two decades. Since Tom Colicchio's departure in 2006, it simply has not been memorable or consistent. I keep returning for a variety of reasons, hoping for a flash of the late 90s brilliance, but it is simply gone. At a business lunch today, I modestly enjoyed the tomato and pepper salad, despised my roasted chicken and devoured my strawberry pie and mint ice cream dessert. The salad was bland with the peppers improperly seared and capers that looked unappetizing. The jalapeno pepper in particular tasted very "off". The heirloom tomatoes were brilliant. The chicken, prepared with the skin on, lacked crispness and was so greasy that I found it inedible.... Which was fortunate because it left me free to consume the spectacular strawberry pie with mint ice cream. Perhaps a bit overdone on the sweetness of the strawberry filling, but a spectacular dish. If my kids tasted it, they would have declared the mint ice cream as "barely mint", but to an adult palate it was perfect. I'm sure I'll return, because that's what high end business diners do when invited to a dinner or lunch event. But I will do so grudgingly.

Either Inflation is Here...or this place is too expensive
maybe $350 or $400 isnt alot of money anymore...but i agree with the last poster. The food here was not tasty or memorable enough for a $350 bill. However, the service was exceptional, some of the best i have seen. I will not be back.

This restaurant is definitely overrated!
We had dinner w friends here and we found the food not that interesting and memorable as it was supposed to be, taking in consideration it's pretty expensive....so i wouldn't go back ....the service outstanding though..

Still great
I've been going for years, and it's still an ideal restaurant experience. Superb food with friendly, attnentive service. Completely worth the expense. I don't know what else anyone could want out of a meal.
