The quality of food is good, but before they re-did the place everything was reasonably priced. Now it seems that they raised the prices on everything only because the the size of the restuarant got bigger.

Gracie Mews is definitely one of the better diners on the UES - the menu is huge, and almost everything I've eaten here has been good. Just pay no attention to the obnoxious employees taking your order over the phone and the skeevy delivery guys!

the food is great, best bacon cheeseburgers in the city, and the people are friendly.
I have a friend who worked as a waiter in many diners all around the city over the years. Only a handful of them I still patronize to this day in other words, most of them were not memorable. But Gracie Mews stands out among them, thanks to its' open and pleasant decor, mostly friendly waitstaff (with regard to what I have read in another review, I have seen the staff be a bit "short" with customers on occasion, but usually that is when it is extremely busy, which does often happen on weekends ... though busyness *is* generally the sign of a good restaurant that is worth the wait!), and good food. I would describe Gracie Mews as an "upscale diner", since in addition to the standard diner fare there are some nicer items on the menu as well. The standard diner fare such as sandwiches and burgers are all great. The egg salad, which in my experience varies widely in quality between places, has never let me down. They serve beer and cocktails as well, though I have never particularly thought of going there for a drink. The various pastries are all good as well. The location is a little out of the way unless you live near there, but in my opinion it is well worth the trip (and if you walk to and from, you won't feel so guilty about eating all that great food!).

This diner is nothing special, but the prices make you wish for more. Since when did $3.75 become an acceptable price for a side of fries? And they're just so-so. Also, I think at $15 for a chicken caesar, it better be a damn good salad, and it falls short. You can do way better for your money.

The food in this diner is really good which is why every six months or so I forget and venture back in. The problem is the staff, who are flat out rude. They all yell back and forth amoung the patrons as though no one is there. It is unbearable to sit in the middle of 6 screaming people. I went back in today and the manager took my credit card and said absolutely nothing to me, not even thank you. I have decided, no matter how much I crave their seafood salad, I cannot ever go back in there, it's tragically, one of the worst dining experiences one can endure.

I've lived on the UES for over five years now, and as such have tried many diners. This is the only one I go to now (with the occassional exception of Cafe Luka due to convenience). Food is great, there is lots of room, it's very bright and airy, service is lightning quick, and it's normal priced.
