Gracie Mews is a diner nothing more and nothing less.It is the kind of place you go to when you don't quite know what you are in the mood to eat. It is not for "dining".The place is fast and reasonable.

I have moved on upper east side since june first, and since june 1st i have been eating at gracies almost every day, sometimes twice a day ,since they are 24 hours open, and thats the greatest thing about it. Not only the breakfast type of food that i get often but also the sandwhices are great!! I call it my kitchen because for 3months i didn't have any dish at home, nothing where to cook and it was very convinient to go eat at gracies instead of worrying about cooking. Thats the neighboorhood spot!

We take the kids here all the time. Probably twice a week or so. It's very consistent. My wife is a very fussy eater and she finds it very solid. Food good, decor good, service good. As another reviewer said, IT'S A DINER! And it's totally good for what it is.

I ordered an omelet and what I got was a pile of ingredients, there were barely any eggs. Worst omelet I've had in a long time, potatoes were dry and bland. I know this is "diner food" but they should be able to get eggs and potatoes right. I will say the fresh squeezed OJ was fantastic and the delivery guy was extremely friendly but everything else was a major disappointment.

The food is good if you are not on a budget or if you are there is someone else to share the bill with. You get plenty of food, so two people can share. However, ordering food is like going through a strict Daycamp. You feel like you are being rushed and the guy is very rude, impatient and disrespectful. That's said, I will leave it up to you.

I agree with the reviewer below. Really good fries. They cook them in vegetable oil, which is a nice break from heavy fries cooked in heavy animal fat. Don't get me wrong, I like my fatty fries, but once in a while, it's nice to have a healthy alternative to the norm. There isn't too much special about this place. It's a big diner, so it accommodates families quite well. They are fast, efficient and as polite as a fast paced diner can be. Good food, yet it is a bit pricey for standard diner fare.

Undoubtedly overpriced (but what isn't on the UES?) but has some great food and an extensive menu. I have friends from out of town who always request to go here. Doesn't have the greatest ambience but is definitely worth getting takeout.
