Still Great!
I've been to Gotham at least 10 times this year, for both lunches and dinners, and every single time was a winner. I want to say it is impossible to have a bad experience at this restaurant. The food and service are consistently outstanding, especially the fish. Don't miss Gotham.

One of the best New York has to offer
We've been to many restaurants in NYC, and this is one of the best. We went after a play and this place was packed at 11pm. Everything from the appetizers to the desserts was a culinary work of art, with fantastic flavors to only enhance the experience. The sommelier made some outstanding recommendations to match perfectly with our meal. Although the time was late, we never felt hurried. The service was outstanding. While a bit pricey, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Above average
Best part - food. Service - prompt & unobtrusive. Value - expensive as expected. Atmosphere - pleasant to look at but very loud.

Actual cooking...
In a world of glam-cuisine different is often confused with good. But, as Gertrude Stein noted (and she must have been thinking about fusion cooking), things that are different are always the same. Alfred Portale, Gotham's great detail-freak and menu-planning chef, does it another way: ordinary dishes like rack of lamb, which are so often the same from one restaurant to another, become just a little different, and often it's hard to say exactly how he's done this. The tastes are unobtrusively complex and...well, just wonderful. It's the difference between reviewable food concepts and actual cooking.

Consistently great experience
I have dined at Gotham many times over the past few years and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. Great food, service, and atomosphere without the pomp and circumstance. I highly recommend it.

Average at best
After waiting a half hour to be seated (even though we had reservations), our wait staff did not know how to properly explain the special dishes, nor could they answer our questions without repeatedly going to the kitchen first to ask the chefs, or whomever. The meal itself was average. There were three of us, and each could name more than a handful of restaurants in the same price range, and cheaper as well, that had better food. If you want to waste your money on the average just to say you have been, I say go for it. If you want to have a great meal and a good time while at the restaurant, I say try one of the many other options in town.

Great creations
Food and wine were both perfect. I really enjoyed the other items on the plate besides the listed dish. I had the squab and it was cooked perfectly. Along with that was a garlic spinach custard which was unique. I would love to go back again and again, especially if I didn't have to pay.
