I ate in the London Bar between Christmas and New Year with my family to celebrate my daughter's 21 st birthday and we all thought it was great. I couldn't get a table in the restaurant but the bar was fine. We chose 16 different dishes from the a la carte menu and so sampled, and enjoyed several combinations that we probably would not usually have tried. My son, normally quite conservative in his eating habits, tried everything and loved it. Especially surprised to see my favourite wine (Cloudy Bay) on the menu. Service was very friendly. My daughter ordered a cocktail but didn't like it and the waiter noticed she wasn't drinking it and it was replaced without charge (we didn't ask for this). Also it was surprisingly reasonable - but the exchange rate helps I guess! Interesting rest rooms.

We absolutley loved Gordon Ramsay's at The London. The staff were very attentive and the food amazing. We had the Lobster ravioli which I would highly recommend along with the Roast cannon of lamb and Line caught turbot. They even catered for my daughter and made her a tomato pasta. For desert we had Caramelized apple tarte Tatin This was the best dining experience we have EVER had. To top it all Gordon Ramsay was there at that time and was kind enough to sign a menu for us and allow us to have a photo taken with him.

I was one of the lucky few who was able to get a reservation during the opening week of perhaps NYC's biggest restaurant opening of the year. With all the hype surrounding this opening and with all the publicity that Gordon Ramsay has received (he has two television shows and is London's only Michelin 3-star Chef) the meal did not disappoint. Due to dietary restrictions I had requested that a special tasting menu be prepared and kitchen was able to deliver one of the better meals that I have had in NY. While I was completely pleased with my dining experience I feel that there are still some improvements that need to be made in order for the restaurant to infact be ranked with NY's elite. The wait staff needs to be better coordinated and needs to work on providing a slightly faster service. Also the Maitre'd needs to manage reservations better because along with myself many other people had to wait upwards of 15 minutes to be seated. All in all I feel that the restaurant is on the path to success as long as they can get past some of the growing pains of working in a new environment and the kitchen continues creating fabulous dishes, Gordon Ramsay will indeed make a mark in NY, among the world's greatest chefs.
