Not Good
If you know good Chinese food, you know this is not it! The food was bland or grossly over-salted or was a greasy mess. The service is poor and our order was not delivered correctly but we just went with it because we heard others complaining and getting no satisfaction. After unappetizing food and hostile service we were rewarded with an overcharge on the check. Never again!

Yum!
I just moved to NYC, and so I am still searching for good food places to eat. I prefer places that deliver and ones that allow me to pay with my card. This place does both! So after almost 2 months of having no Chinese food, I finally decided to search online and place an order. Obviously, I had pretty high expectations because I had gone so long without a food that I love, and I must say, I was not disappointed!! I ordered a large General Tso's chicken and it arrived at my door in around 30 mins, it tasted fresh and the sauce was rich, flavorful, and delicious! (And portions were very generous!!) I will most definitely be ordering from them again!! Anytime I have a craving, this will be the place I call.

Best chinese anywhere nearby!
Hands down, the best Chinese place in the Heights. I've only eaten in-house one time, and our service was decent (granted, we were one of only 3 tables at the time); but it sure is nice to eat IN a Chinese place that doesn't look like a greasy spoon diner! I've ordered delivery several times and have never been disappointed. Phone staff are polite, as are the delivery personnel (even though my building is impossible to find!) Food is always exactly what I ordered (including any extras or special changes I request), and FAST. Sometimes a man who seems like the manager answers & takes the delivery orders -- and it can be a bit distracting when he's often interrupting the conversation about your order to speak to someone "in house" -- but that's the way restaurants have to work sometimes, and that's the closest thing I have to a complaint about the delivery experience. I laughed at the review below that said peppers & pineapple in Sweet&Sour Pork/Chicken is "weird, but delicious". This is the way Sweet & Sour is supposed to be, folks! Fresh pineapple & peppers in the sauce, meat in "real meat shape" (as in, not cubed!) that's lightly breaded & fried in some kind of batter with actual flavor. In response to someone's complaint about the egg rolls, every egg roll I've had from here was standard -- but fresh & just as expected. $20 gets enough food for about 3 meals, for me. And I prefer it over many of the bigger Chinese places on the Upper West side. Chinatown places are better, of course, but if you live up here, Golden Star is the place to go!

Great for chinese food
Excellent spot for chinese food, the portions are huge compared to the prices around the area and the taste of the food isn't comparable. They also offer a wide selection of chinese tea, I bought a bag home and that also tasted delicious. I mean the tea they offer follows the rule of how many customers are drinking it, the more people sharing the tea the more expensive it is and it also has unlimited refills. The sushi they serve is also great and comparably cheap to other places in the area. Absolutely love this restaurant and I live about 20 blocks away in the inwood area but i stilll travel to this place regularly.

$4 for a pot of tea? Are you crazy?
Tasty food. Nice, clean restaurant. When we asked for tea (a customary "freebie" in EVERY Chinese restaurant I've ever been in) ... we were positively shocked to find a $4 charge for it on the check. $4 for a pot of tea? Never again. Too bad. The food was decent and I'd go back otherwise. But never, never again.

Best in the hood
Love the food here. I'm a elivery addict and probably order from here 3-4 times per week. They have one of the best pad thais I've had, but call it Thai Rice Noodle. Secrets Out!
