with out a doubt one of a kind(in greenpoint)
I'm definitely not from the area... not even a newyorker, I moved up here recently from the south and finding this place was really a relief... every other deli/cornerstore treats you like just another random person from the street except God Bless. Your always greeted in a welcoming manner and feel encouraged to come back. The service here is great, the cooks always try to accommodate you in anyway they can and always double check with you how you wanted your food prepared. Their delivery service can sometimes be a bit delayed (especially during the rush hour) but when your food gets there its always still hot and fresh. Their coffee is also pretty good! Never too strong and never too hot. Recommendations: *Philly cheese steak on a hero. *Lamb Gyro's *the burger and fries platter or substitute the fries for onion rings. *and definitely their Lamb on rice plate that also comes with a bit of salad.

caution when ordering
While I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years I feel the need to set everyone straight. Little known facts on the food. They serve NO pork products. The bacon is beef frye. Yes it tastes like bacon and looks like bacon, its not. The ham is turkey ham. The genoa salami is beef hard salami. With people with alergies the truth would be nice. The phillie cheese steak is roast beef and onions, no peppers. The food is fresh and made to order. Bread is delivered daily, if its stale they will not sell it. Service is fast and friendly. Great coffee. Sodas and beers galore. Prices are great. BUT over the past 6 months the prices went up and the slices of meat and cheese got thinner.Cold or Hot food 24 hrs a day 7 days a week with a smile. Yours and theirs.

polish guys and staten island guys.
do you like getting good deli food at midnight in a crowded place? I do. I overheard drunk guys talk about random stuff, polish guys and Staten island guys. Ok, thats fun. The folks behind the counter - awesome. Friendly and accommodateting. Nowhere to sit, but nothing around here is open late, so its not like there is anywhere to sit at the closed places either. Zoop!

With a name like this...
... you gotta love it. God Bless is my neighborhood deli, and the guys there are great: courteous, helpful, and fast. The deli itself has most of the basics and is relatively clean, but it could use a few more items in stock (more skim milk!). It's one of the few places open 24 hours in the area, which means it's often a life-saver, but the "patrons" can be sketchy much of the time. One of the best things about the guys at God Bless is that they always deal with Greenpoint's drunk population (horrifyingly large) in a way that is polite but protective of their store and their non-drunk-and-belligerent customers.
