Masochists, rejoice! This is the place for you! Rude, argumentative service staff. OK food that does not correspond to what's listed on the menu: "We only do polenta at night."

My wife and I live on the UES and Girasole is, hands-down, our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. Girasole offers a dynamite combo of incredible food, phenomenal service, and a friendly atmosphere. The quality and attention to every last detail clearly begins at the top. Girasole's classy owner Zoran absolutely blew away our (already lofty) expectations for our recent rehearsal dinner. Our guests loved every course, especially the orecchiette primavera, lobster ravioli, halibut and chicken. Zoran and his team of first-class waiters made sure our guests had a blast and ate well. Food and drink are extremely generously portioned. We're already looking forward to returning to Girasole for our next occasion (or Tuesday night craving)!

I hosted a large party here in December. I pre-selected a menu consisting of branzino, chicken and a pork entree. We started with an assortment of antipasti, a wonderful salad and delicious homemade pasta. Every dish was prepared to perfection and the presentation was beautiful. All of my guests raved about the food and wine and told me afterward their meal was delicious and would definately come back and recommend Girasole to their friends. The wait staff was attentive and courteous. If you want wonderful homemade italian dishes, go to Gerisole as you will not be disappointed.

A good friend treated me here for my job promotion. I actually felt sorry for him. The service was impatient and sporatic. There was no value as the price was ridiculous in comparison to the high prices. Go down one block to the Italian place next to 7/11.

I recently went back to Girasole after not eating there for a while, and was impressed again by the delicious, innovative food and the friendly, casual service. It's not cheap--some dishes, like the langoustines, are really expensive--but you get real value for the money. Love the mussels, the green bean and shrimp salad, the chicken paillard and even the kidneys. It's a neighborhood restaurant for a prosperous neighborhood.

Had lunch there while on the way to the Met. Food was perfect. The bread and meats and cheeses put out upon arrival were such a nice surprise! Definitely a bit pricey, but worth it. Relaxed (hushed) atmosphere and desserts taste like Italy. Try the tartuffo...

I had not expected the restaurant to be anything special however, the langustines were so fresh and delicous that i was ovewhelmed. The service was good too. I had enjoyed langustines moderately in many more expensive and upscale restaurants but found them served to perfection in the casual dining atmostphere Girasol .
