Great Restaurant
A friend took me to Giorgio's tonight. The food and presentation as well as the service and ambiance was excellent. Can't wait to return for another fine meal.

Reliable standby
I've been going to this restauant for years. I've have never had a bad meal or bad service. The food is always very good the service excellent! The atmosphere is very nice, intimate. I can't imagine anyone not liking this place

Can't understand criticism of decor?
I agree - the food, service and wine (esp by the glass) selections are fantastic. Never disappointed. Great value. Surprised it is not more $$$. But, the way the others describe it ("hole in the wall"???? "Not very upscale"??) seems like they went to a different restaurant. IMHO, "hole in the wall" to me is a steam-table place, with formica tables and paper napkins. Giorgio's is very clean, and nicely decorated, with wooden and glass bar, nice art, white tablecloths, cloth napkins etc. I guess they expect every restaurant to look like the Russian Tea Room?

Go for the food
My wife and I along with another couple ate here several nights ago. The menu was really interesting, and what we ordered was quite well prepared and very fairly priced -- particularly the 3 course prix fixe dinner. On the downside, don't plan on a quiet dinner if the restaurant is reasonably full, and don't expect terribly upscale surroundings.

Hole-in-the-wall for visiting parents
My parents are dead, but if they were alive and able to visit me in NYC, I would take them to Giorgio's. Gourmet comfort food with a few daring outside-the-comfort-food box. I love the antpasto, the filet mignon, the wine-by-the-glass selection, and some of the side dishes (roasted brussel sprouts, etc). The one drag is that the desserts aren't in the same league as the dinner items--too sweet, too few--no daring poached fruits with liquor-based sauces or aything like that. Stay for dinner, but go around the corner to L'Express for dessert.

Excellent restaurant in Gramercy
The ambience is very nice and great for a date. We ordered the mac and cheese and a salad for an appetizer and when my friend had a phone call the waiter quickly took the food and put in under the warmer. When our entrees came, the filet and cod, we enjoyed it. The side of spaghetti squash was also very good but had a bit too much garlic in it. Good selection of desserts and all very tasty. What made our night was the waiter James. He was very attentive and went above and beyond what any 5 star restaurant would do. If you go, make sure you sit at his tables. I will definitely come back and had a very pleasant evening.
