    The most disappointing food/beautiful view

This place has a very appealing look to it but the food has no business advertising it as "Italian". The food is disappointing. It is expensive - they should serve burgers and be done.

    Lousy Service

It took them over 2 hours to get us lunch. They screwed up the order a few times. They let us bake in the sun without even checking to see if we needed anything else to drink. Then when we complained they giggled like high school kids. I go there a lot as it is close to my office and the service has always been spotty, but the location is very pretty. However, this was the straw that broke the camel's back. I will never go there unless there is new management.

    Awesome location and amazing food!

After visiting the Statue of Liberty, we decided to stop by Gigino's. The view of the water and the Statue of Liberty from our table was beautiful! I highly recommend the dish I ordered. I don't remember the exact name but it had vodka in the sauce and prosciutto. It was amazing!!

    Find another place to eat

While it was the menu from Gigino trattoria that brought us to the restaurant, we assumed the menu was the same and we were sadly mistaken. we were swayed to come closer to the water for the view which you cant see the statue of liberty anyhow. It does feel like you are not in NYC eating by the water however, the food was disappointing. the menu selection was poor compared to its sister resturant. Truthfully, I am a great cook and I could have done better in my own kitchen. pasta dishes were nothing spectacular, appetizers were sloppy and oily, and the mussels were fair. We decided to skip dessesrt get some cheap and real dessert that we knew would be worth leaving the place for. What a waste of time and money.

    Another one bites the dust

Alas, just recently went back to an old favorite: Gigino in Wagner Park. Sadly they need to step it up - service is horrendous, and the value is not that good. If they keep this up, there will be 5 tourists in the place, and with the Euro falling, maybe not even that many. Much of the menu and bar is very, very overpriced, and they seem only interested in the one off tourist trade rather than locals. Sad, this could be a destination place, but unfortunately they will have to step it up otherwise no locals will go!!

Great Venue, Beers A Mega-Ripoff, Serice So Very Slow

I love much about this place. The outdoor venue is fantastic, the food, if you know what to order, is much better than noted in many reviews. However, the service is slow, inconsistent or, in some cases non-existent. The hostesses are in some cases snotty (frankly with no good reason to be), but the greatest travesty I have recently been subjected to is the $11 draft beer(keep in mind the wines by the glass are $8-9 per). Yes, it was a Peroni ie Italian imported, but nothing prepared me to be ripped off to such an extent (pricing was not on the menu and the rarely seen waiter sure did not inform me). I have travelled globally to expensive places, and I have lived in Manhattan for 20 years, so I am used to normally expensive, and high prices in certain locations, but this is a bridge too far: I have never had a draft beer above $7 or 8, let alone $11 -- this place is going the ripoff route, and diners should be aware. I like the place, but it will be a while before I head back. Ridiculous, positively ridiculous!
