Still Hungry and Broke
Some things seemed reasonably priced while others are drastically overpriced (e.g. salads, pasta bar). I went in there the first time today looking for soup for my upset stomach. I got a large minestrone and the total came out to 5 bucks and change! I didn't see any prices posted for the soup but I couldn't have imagined they would charge that much for something that clearly came from the can. It wasn't even chunky. Now I know the smile from the clerk was because they succeeded in selling overpriced canned soup to another customer. High fives all around. Stay away from this establishment which doesn't care about food quality or value. Presliced deli meats? How long is that stuff sitting there before they throw it out anyway? A tip from Tastee Sub Shop in Edison, NJ where Obama ate, deli meat sliced to order tastes much better.

overpriced
Just a cheese sandwich is 6 bucks! Most delis charge less than 6 dollars for just a cheese sandwich with no meat. So I think it's way pricey for the pretty average deli that it is. I'll be scouting out other places in the area but I assume they get away with overcharging because there is no competition down here. Nothing is special about this place, except the juice bar, which is also expensive but so are most juice bars. The overpriced cheese sandwich really hit a sour spot with me though. Grrrr

One Huge Freaking Lion!
That's the first thing that will pop into your head when you walk into this wonderful eatery. There is a 15 foot, 8 ton wooden lion in the middle of the dining area. Wow! If that were the only reason to come to Getting Hungry, it would still be worth the trip. But the food and service by the staff make this a rare find in NYC - a place that cares about what you're eating and how you're treated. The soups are outrageously good, the juice bar puts Jamba to shame and the sandwhiches are very good too. The salad bar is the best in the neighborhood. Check it out... you won't be sorry.
