Fantastic Italian
Food taste and quality is top notch. They don't spend time decorating or plating but who cares, I just want to eat. They use the right blend of ingredients and everything is fresh! The specials are amazing! And you can't beat the cheap prices. Now, just remember to bring cash and your patience because the service is poor. Everyone is in a hurry all the time and forget things like silverware, napkins, and water. And yet, I will still go back because the food is just that good!

Great italian food
Went there last week for the first time and was surprised to find a cozy Italian with good atmosphere. Noise level was moderate. Pretty crowded at 9 pm but we didn't have to wait to be seated. Food was good and the bread was also good. The tiramisu is something worth trying. Will definitely keep coming back.

Great Value
ate there tonight. food was delicious and cheap. i will be going back again soon. get the lamb for $16....fantastic. the place is small and cramped, but for the prices, you cannot go wrong

Great food but really poor service
We've been ordering and going to this restauarant for a long time and recently they now claim that because its snowing and the restaurant is too busy they won't deliver to our apartment which is less than 10 blocks away. What a way to do business - aren't we still in a recession?

What a pity!
Disgusting service. Also the lighting is terrible. On the other hand the food is excellent. They have a very good selection of wine, but too bad you cannot enjoy it because the servers rush you out. Too bad, will never go back. Change the waitstaff!

Best Restaurant in UWS
The food here is professional and delicious. It is the best Italian restaurant on the UWS. The specials are plentiful and it's hard to go wrong. They also welcome ordering off-menu if you like something that isn't on the menu. The service is courteous and very knowledgeable. The $20 per person minimum isn't so terrible - one appetizer, two mains and a couple of sodas will get you there. Overall, amazing restaurant - HIGHLY recommended.

Best Italian Food in the area, but cash only!
Gennaro's is the best Italian food in the area (W90-100), but they are cash only. This is annoying when you order in and don't have much cash on you, or when you go there, there are no ATMs right nearby except at some sketchy delis. The tiny restaurant can get crowded. They also do not post their specials but have waiters with thick accents speed through them. That said, it is my FAVORITE Italian in the area, and TOTALLY WORTH some inconveniences. They always have tons of terrific specials, wonderful standards, and great service. The atmosphere is terrific. You can go there for a romantic date, or with the family or just because you don't want to cook. It's warm and down-to-earth, but still special. They always have new art on the walls and great smells coming from the kitchen. It is one of the few Italian restaurants like this on the UWS, and in this immediate area the ONLY good Italian, in my opinion. It is also a great value for the money- which is why there are long lines on weekend evenings. The good COMPLETELY outweighs the bad here. Also- try the salads, the appetizers, and the ravoli. Heaven.
