The food here is very good, however the service is subpar- from the bartenders to the manager. I was not paid attention to for most of my time here except when it came to pay the check. Will never return.

The steak was top notch quality and the size was enormous. I am a big fan of weekend brunche as well as steaks, and this is the best brunch NYC has to offer.

I have been on the Upper East Side all my life, spanning more than three decades. Things open and close constantly. (Within ten years, the Irish bar became a Mexian restaurant and is about to become a bank--welcome to the Upper East Side.) Genesis should be in the neighborhood for a long time to come. The owner is a great guy; the staff is dependable and friendly, and the food is outstanding. "Pub Grub" is not what you'll find here. Bosc pears with goat cheese wrapped in bacon on a bed of lettuce. What "pub grub" includes this fare? A "burger" at Genesis is not your run-of-the-mill slab of dead steer on a bun. The burgers are creative and delicious. A Reuben burger hits the spot. A burger with bleu cheese, chorizo and frizzled onions? Bring it on! The calamari is some of the best you will find anywhere in the city--light and tender. (I actually had calamari in Little Italy tonight--they should send someone up to this Irish establishment with a pen and paper; maybe then it'll taste better. A pen and paper would have tasted better than the calamari I had tonight . . . but I digress.) The chicken tenders are moist and delicious. Everything is done well. This is how a restaurant should be run. This Genesis should around until Judgment Day. It's that good.

My first impression came from meeting the owner. Really friendly guy, very enthusiatic about being in the area. I came straight back for dinner with my husband and we had a great meal. I brought my in-laws there for dinner and they loved the place, especially the gorgeous bar and excellent food. I agree that the service can be slow- they only seemed to have one waitress working, but everyone there is so nice, and the food is worth the wait. I'm looking forward to drinking in the beer garden this summer and hopefully watching England win the World Cup!

Finally, a restaurant that serves up dishes comparable to its prices. I've been to the restaurant a few times now and have had the sizzling steak steak dish which is superbly presented with frizzled onions and you could literally hear the dish sizzling... it was almost embarrassing. The service was a bit slow because the outside seating was packed, but it was definitely worth the wait. You have to try it!
