    Gee Whiz, this place sucks.

Even for Tribeca, the prices are too high. There is no reason to order from Gee Whiz. The portions are decent, but the food does not warrant the price. Gee Whiz, this place sucks.

    OK food. Overly HIGH prices

My wife and I have ordered consistently from Gee Whiz for over 4 years, as it's really the only diner in our neighborhood. The food is only decent, but the delivery is always super-fast and the service is friendly--that's what keeps us ordering. It seems that recently the prices have become sky high. You can get meals from real restaurants (not diners) for the same $$. The eggs are good, though the last time we ordered ham, egg and cheese sandwiches, they both tasted like fish and we chucked them in the garbage. I think there's a huge opportunity in lower Tribeca to open up a reasonably-priced diner with better food. It would make a killing. And certainly get our business.

    great diner

I love the Gee Whiz. Go on Thursday for split pea soup day. the mozza sticks are something like 8 bucks which is pretty steep but everything else is priced right. the business person's lunch special is a heck of a lot of food for $7.95. The gyros are huge and the tzaziki sauce rocks.

Moving and going to miss Gee Wiz

I have lived in the area for 2 years and have ordered so much from Gee Wiz and enjoyed every morsel. Last year on Thankgiving I found myself alone after just flying back from business. I ordered the turkey dinner and it was wonderful, fresh, delivered with a smile and it made my day. I enjoy going into Gee Wiz also and have always found that someone from management is aware and watching that everyone is happy with the food and service. I'm moving out of state and I will really miss Gee.

Looks like a chain, food adequate

We ate there twice during our stay in NYC and both time had breakfast. At first we were impressed by the size of the dishes but soon realised it kind of balanced the lack of taste. The place is very anonymous and, unless you are a stranger from another continent, like we were, you would hardly find it worth the visit.

please don't listen to anything you read

i've lived above this diner for 10 years... i've ordered here 100's of times, mostly out of necesity. The food is more or less poor quality. Burgers are frozen, salads are gross, and i would never order anything other then breakfast, or the panini sandwiches. Not one person who lives in this area things the "gee" is any good. It's truly disappointing and expensive!!

As good as a diner gets

i've been eating at gee whiz and having them deliver to my home for years. tribeca is well deserving of its reputation as the restaurant capital of nyc, and i've tried all the top ones, but if i had to choose one that i'd miss the most if it closed, it would be 'the gee'. this is truly a neighborhood place where they know your name and how you like your food done. burgers and sandwiches and eggs and bagels/lox are exactly as they should be. but the real surprise is how good the dinners are. fish is market fresh and expertly prepared. pasta is full of flavor and as good as any decent italian restaurant. and the portions are huge. thanks pete and andy. i'll never forget the day you finally reopened after 9-11 and all your neighborhood friends stood around, many teary eyed, and realized that tribeca life was indeed back to normal. (by the way, i don't know what that last guy was talking about - pete is still there - i saw him today, and yesterday, and the day before that. and i'm sure i'll see him tomorrow. that guy must own a competing (and inferior) diner.)
