Gee Whiz Diner
Posted by True Tribeca on 02/14/2008
...... residents know that this place is milking those it can. Of course, I am referring to those who can afford to be milked and not care. People who know quality will continue to flee from frozen burgers, poor fries, expensive prices, lame soups, barely decent egg dishes, etc.

i was so shocked by the reviews here, that I had to comment. It is NOT the worst Diner in NYC by any stretch of the imagininion...a great menu, good service and quality food. I eat there maybe 6 times a month, mostly breakfast and if you like Corned Beef Hash, it's prepared perfectly...living upstairs from a diner, you need a to find a better job...these a not Jersey Diner Prices because it's not Jersey...and I live in NJ and will fight anybody who disrespects the place where I grew up and my parents live...GFY

I live in Tribeca for 16 years now. I come from a middle class family. Gee whiz doesn't have middle class prices. I rather go somewhere else for the money. Because Tribeca is filled with wealthy people they are forgetting about the other class of people in the area. Theses prices aren't diner prices, there Tribeca prices. To bad, services good, and food ok.

Gee Whiz is a great neighborhood diner. The rest of the reviewers have it all wrong.

I have been coming to this diner for the past five years and I love it. The food is great and the staff are very welcoming. They are also kid-friendly for those who have children.

Lived upstairs from this place for 11 years... G whiz is largely regarded as a last option by everyone in the neighborhood. It's open late. Unfortunately there is no other competition which we pray will change soon. If you have no other choice but to eat here (i've regretably ordered here 100 times over the years)-- stick to the panini sandwiches and ask to have it cooked dry or it will be oily. Their frozen hamburgers are not good, don't even try them. Chicken breast sandwich is ok.

Just ate one of the worst hamburgers. The meat tasted like it was frozen and it was no better than a McDonald's burger. The fries had no taste, but were crunchy. Very expensive and quality that has hit rock-bottom.
