Gee Whiz Diner

This place is very good if you eat IN the diner. But I have never got the right order and when you call back they will redeliver and blame the error on their new staff. Ridiculous excuse. Although food is good it is overpriced and not diner worthy.

The quality of the food is very good, when you walk in you see many children, the owners Andy and Pete are very pleasant and the service is excellent, and the menu is moderatly price for the area.

I've lived in Tribeca for over 4 years and this place is solid. Couple items: 1. Value - It's very hard to find a consistent place here that isn't expensive b/c Tribeca has a ton of 4-5 star expensive restaurants so finding an every day affordable place is very challenging. YES, its more expensive than diners in other places in the city but IN TRIBECA - its reasonable. Comparing it to other neightborhoods is like comparing the cost of renting a 1 bedroom here to Detroit, Michigan. You can't. 2. Food - the food is pretty good FOR A DINER. It's not amazing but it's solid. Great turkey sandwiches and soup. It's my go to for comfort foods like soup, mashed potatoes etc. 3. It's always open. 4. Service - the people who work here couldn't be nicer. They are so friendly and keep coming back to check if everything is ok and will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy and have everything you need. I would expect that kind of service at Daniel. I'm a big fan of Gee Whiz not just for the food but most importantly the people that work there. Tip them well.

lets be honest, it is a totally mediocre diner that is somewhat overpriced. the food is certainly edible but what a shame there isnt a real diner in the hood.

On July 26, 2012 we were looking for a light supper and found the perfect place near the Cosmopolitan Hotel Tribeca. We passed a few eating places and then came upon Ghee Whiz and decided to stop in. We had the Baby Spinach salad with fresh berries, oranges, goat cheese and pine nuts. It was a salad for one but easily fed both of us. The baked potates were big and cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and efficient and the staff made us feel like they were happy to have us as customers. For our first meal of our 1 week visit to NYC, it was a great start. The neighborhood is fortunate to have this place!

I order from here weekly and never get bored of my options. Love love love the paninis, wraps, burgers, pastas and desserts are great. The steak is juicy and yummy. It's been here since 91 so let's give them business to continue on (not like these overpriced large corporation chains)

The food and service are great. I go there every week and I am never let down by the quality of their food and how good their service and atmosphere is. They have some of the best hamburgers that I have ever eaten in my life. Their french fries, they are out of this world. And their milkshakes and desserts, you'll go crazy for them. I recently took my girlfriend there and we made out, smooch. So you should eat at the Gee Whiz
