Frozen Food?
We ordered the Pollo Empanada and Milanesa Napolitana. For $18 we got a little tin of rice that looked like it was heat up in the microwave, and meat that looked pretty much the same. In fact the whole meal looked like something out of my Associated frozen food section. Maybe it was an off day, but we won't be ordering from here again.

The Best Bistro Latino
Gauchas is our favorite restaurant in the city, by far. we celebrated it having an amazing piece of meat and empanadas and of course panqueques... The meat is absolutely excellent, the guy who controls the parrilla is a genius and the place where they buy the meat should be one of the best in the TriState area. Bife de chorizo, asado de tira, entrana... the group tried them all and ALL are GREAT! and we are very picky about meat... Obviously the service is excellent with us, perhaps it helps that we go there ALL the time! In fact we are thinking about going tonight! Salud!

Avoid at all costs
Having been to this place on a few occasions over the last year with so - so results, decided to visit again Thursday April 9 th '08 with my Mrs - boy what a mistake!...first,ordered 2 Empenadas, both of which arrived semi cold...ok, all establishments mess up from time to time we thought so sent them back with no fuss..moved onto the sweetbreads which were generally good - the Argentinian blood sausage however arrived frozen - literally frozen rock solid in the middle so that you couldn't cut it - could not believe what i was seeing - 2 frozen dishes at the same table? the owner happened to be sitting at the table in front of ours - the waitress relayed our dissatisfaction to him - he simply told her to take the cost of the sausage off the menu - no apology, didn't even turn around to acknowledge us...suffice to say didn't eat the rest of the food (had ordered the calamari which looked/tasted as thought had been cooked in motor oil) - this place used to be ok once...the place has gone downhill

Delivery Denied!
I was in the mood for empanadas, did a quick search on menupages and found this place. After reading the reviews I though I'd order an assortment of dishes, including two of each empanada variety and three main dishes. After ordering $90 worth of food they asked for my address. The woman on the phone informed me that I lived two blocks outside of their "delivery zone". I explained that I had never ordered from them before and asked, given the total of my order, if they would make an exception. The woman clearly became very upset and repeated "NO" about 18 times and said a few other unpleasant comments. I would have gone to pick up my order had she not reacted in such a nasty way. Now I refuse to entertain the thought of ever going there period!

overcooked steak and poor service
I went on a friday nite - around 7pm. Waited 1/2 hour or more for my steak which I ordered medium. It came well done. The server never came to check on us, we had to flag her down to get dessert and the check, left the restaruant thirsty b/c she never gave us water. The food and service was very disappointing, for the price i paid, i dont think i'll go back

Worth the Trek for Argentinian Steak
I've been going to Gauchas since its empanadas were featured on the Food Network a couple of years ago. Since then, the place has doubled in size (and so did its prices). Nevertheless, the food quality has remained tops, and the menu took on a lot more items. On my most recent dinner at Gauchas, our group started with a selection of empanadas (gauchas, humita and pollo), and chorizo. The empanadas came with hot, flaky-fried crusts, stuffed either with a cheesy corn sauce, or a tightly-packed minced meat filling. The chorizo was equally tasty... with the right amount of spice to a zing. For my main dish, I had the skirt steak (entrana) - cooked medium. It was - as always - fragrant and flavorful, even without the chimichurri sauce. So, even if it's a bit of travel to get here, the great tasting meats, the still very-reasonable prices, AND the moderate crowds make it so much worth it.

Amazing Steaks
Neighborhood gem! We have come here more than 10 times and will always go back again. Host is very friendly. Food is out of this world. They have recently expanded and the prices, unfortunately, went up a little. But we will always come back for the garlic fries...
