Like many New Yorkers, I have loved Bobby Flay since he opened Mesa Grill those many years ago. But with Gato, he has outdone himself. The service we had last night was beyond outstanding, up to Danny Meyer standards, especially admirable in this hectic, hip environment. The restaurant is exceptionally good-looking and, although the bar is undoubtedly "the place to be<" the back room is comfortable, welcoming, and only moderately noisy. And then there's the food: the menu is very cleverly designed, with tiny plates of bar food (about two bites apiece) that come in groups of three, your choices among nine offerings. The appetizers are considerably larger, and the entrees offer hearty portions. On the bar menu, Mr. Flay has brought back his eggplant with Manchego and balsamic, a wonderful throwback to Bolo. The roasted octopus with bacon and tangerine vinaigrette on the appetizer menu is mouth-watering, and my dining companion loved her tarragon chicken from the entree menu. I've visited Gato twice now, and both times, my friends and I have been blown away with the wonderful combination of service, atmosphere and food. Bravo!!!!

From the above reviews and the media coverage , Gato seemed to be a good choice for an enjoyable experience with exceptional food. The latter was true. The creativity in the selections and the expertise in the flavors were quite evident. However, the experience was lacking in comfort. Along with the superior food, I grave the feeling that my satisfaction trumps their agenda. I sensed as if there was a stop watch above our table indicating the time remaining . We were the fortunate ones to secure a reservation and we must move along for the next privileged group. I will continue my search for that restaurant offering fine food with genuine concern for their patrons. Oh, how I long for Lutuce.

What a pleasure. From the moment we walked in the door. Front Staff made us feel Welcomed. To all the Servers that treated us as valued guests and of course to the food, amazing. Chefs and Kitchen Staff produce wonderful offerings. this restaurant personifies what happens when talented professional people come together. So many other places don't do what this place does, so when you come across such a fantastic experience it stands out and needs to be recognized.

Bobby Flay does it again.... The food is spectacular, the restaurant is beautiful, it is very industrial chic....the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable on all the items on the menu. No wonder it takes a month to get a reservation here.... Every dish we had was a winner including the kale and mushroom paella. Please get the cauliflower, the octopus and spreads as starters.

Bobby Flay still has the touch and the talent to turnout some amazing food at Gato. Wonderful flavors and dimensional tastes make . your palate sing. Reminded me of the early days at Mesa Grill. Who knew scrambled eggs could be so incredibly good and vegetarian paella could replace the traditional. Culinary innovation reigned supreme. Food, space, and service were all top drawer. We had a delicious dining experience

Everything from start to finish was amazing. Decor is so nice, food was really incredible. We tried a number of things but the entrees were the stand outs. We had the charred beef and the kale and mushroom paella. It was one of the best things I've ever had. Just so delicious! Apple tarte tatin with vanilla black pepper ice cream was also delicious. Can't wait to go back.
