A very charming trip back to France
Many Chelsea restaurants try soo hard to be fashionable and hip, but they all come in a very far second if you're looking for a small, charming, cozy taste of an off the beaten path, true Parisian cafe. Dimly lit restaurant with a beautiful cozy bar in the front that leads you to an even cozier dining room. Candelight tables and all. Sauteed sweetbreatds and seared foie gras are of top quality

Best "real French restaurant" in Chelsea
Not many French restaurants in Chelsea compare to the real and authentic French food offered at Gasgogne. I have been going for years and never disappointed.

Great French Experience!
And it you can get there for the prix-fixe before 7 pm, it's a great value as well. Imagine 3 substantial and delicious courses for $29! Wine is decently-priced. There's a jewel of a garden and while it's a tiny place, the service is enthusiastic and the atmosphere is outstanding. But after 8 pm, prepare to pay $75+ per person alacarte with a glass of wine and no dessert (but with coffee). Watch out for the non-priced specials which add an unexpected $5-8 per person. Be smart and share an appetizer, order from the menu, and have a great time!

New management
This used to be my favorite restaurant but a few weeks ago they replaced the manager and now most of the great French atmosphere is gone. Remember the old manager? Great service, made you feel special. The new manager is an annoying grumpy guy who does not seem to like what he is doing. Very very disappointing. The food is still great. but the restaurant is not the same anymore.

first time patron and new fan
A reasonably priced meal that is well prepared and well served. A place to talk and enjoy the food and companionship, Shell steak was tasty and vegge's were very good.

What Happened?
This place used to be my favorite place in Chelsea. Great Garden area. But my rack of lamb was tough and tasted sour. My appetizer had so much garlic on it that it overpowered the mussels. I hope this place gets a better food preparer soon!!

Amazing food and service
Amazing food. And at the early bird dinner special price (before 7pm) astoundingly affordable. The lamp chops are first rate. The crepes suzettes are to die for. I ordered a second serving of them, saying that I really should not but I couldn't help it. The charming French waiter misunderstood, luckily. He did not bring a second serving. My wife was thankful. Service is very attentive, not pushy or pressurous (on time or menu choices) and with a European charm and class. Never mind the little linguistical misunderstandings that kept an extra dessert off my waist line :-)
