I have been going to the Garden Cafe consistently since it opened in Inwood and not a single time have I been served anything but delicious food, in generous portions. The waitstaff is usually friendly and funny, and happy to accommodate a special request or answer a question. I love the specials and if I could make one wish it's that they would update their menu a little. While they have great stuff there, the regular menu has changed very little over the years and I am getting a little bored. But that's a small quibble. I love the place.

Love the staff, love the food, love the garden. In particular I love the steak and eggs, the chicken wrap, the goat cheese salad and the penne vodka

When Garden Cafe first opened it was the best thing that came to Inwood. I would order dinner almost nightly if not I dined there. About a year or more ago service became horrible. Many times I had to personally take my check to the register because the waitstaff would not be around and this was after waiting for over 30 minutes for the check. The food became greasy and not very appealing. When I completely gave up on them was when I ordered a salad for delivery and it turned out to be unsanitary! I miss sipping wine in the garden and the food that I enjoyed when they first opened. I hope that the staff is revamped, from management to the kitchen, and the Garden Cafe that I fell in love is brought back.

I have given Garden Cafe several chances and have been disappointed almost every time. There brunch is okay but dinner entree's tend to bland and boring. The biggest disappointment is the horrible service. Maybe because we are a two-top we are not high priority but it has been ridiculous - not asking if I would like more wine, never coming to check on us eventhough we had to wait 45 minutes for any food, forgetting to drop off the check when asked, leaving us sitting there for 20 minutes before waiter even approaches the table for drink orders. Last weekend he forgot to put in the order which we were okay with - it happens. We ordered eggs and hashbrowns - pretty quick. An hour later still no food, the waiter is completely avoiding us, never once filled up my coffee while I sat there for over an hour- finally get the food and my poached eggs are hard boiled and the hashbrowns are frozen in the middle. Waiter has someone else bring out our food and never once came to check so we had to flag down another one to ask for the manager - which I never do but enough is enough. Only once have we been to garden cafe when it has been a relaxing time where nothing went wrong. The food is mediocre, the atmosphere is great - I love the outside area but I have finally given up. They desperately need to find new management who knows how to operate the front of house service and they could use a chef who knows how to spice food correctly - the only spice on earth is not just salt.

The wife and I had a great dinner. Nice specials and wait service was good. Seating in back garden was great.

I love this restaurant. I think I've tried almost everything on the menu and its all good. I really enjoy the chicken noodle soup, salmon, and cordon bleu! The portions are a great size and they have a nice selection of wines. It has a awesome back patio in the summer and music usually thurs and fridays. I highly recommend Garden Cafe!

I've given this place several chances, but it disappoints every time. The food has little if any flavor, which is a shame as the space itself is lovely despite being small and cramped. Better places can be found only a short walk away.
