Welcome addition
G69 might not be Florent but I thought it was still good. I had the burger which I thought was really tasty and it was only 12 bucks and came with a big plate of fries. I also had the mac and cheese appetizer and thought it was delicious. Some of the other items may have been on the pricey side but if they were as good as what I ate then I am sure they are worth it. I will definitely be going back.

What if Florent hadn't existed?
Nice to find a halfway decent joint around the corner. I can slow down as I do in other cities. Now I don't have to go to the Standard to feel as though all eyes are aimed at me. I feel comfy catching up with my paper in the morning, the eggs are okay, I can be invisible, I don't mind the slow service. I want to enjoy my West Village time, yet not in overdrive. I'm glad I tried it.

pleasantly surpised
After reading the bad reviews I was a little nervous but it’s such a fun looking place we decided to try it out. It was a bit empty but I have no idea why. Our waiter James was hilarious and very nice. I had a sparkling pear cocktail and it was great. They give you tater tots instead of bread which is fine by me; I could have eaten the béarnaise mayo with a spoon. We shared the mac and cheese with shallots bacon and peas, it was creamy and delicious. After that I had the scallops which were so good I have no idea what the sauce but I loved it and my husband had the meatloaf which was good too. We’ll definitely be going back.

really miss florent
agree with previous comments. Avoid, nothing redeeming. Decor from a 70s garage, too loud music from the 80s so you can't talk, very poor service. 10 minutes to get drinks for lunch, ordered a caesar salad with dressing on the side. Came with dressing on it. Was told they would do it specially for me, but they usually do not put caesar dressing on the side because it's 'too think to pour'! And whoever heard of olives on a caesar salad? Asked for another glass of wine to 2 waiters and had to take glasses up to bar 10 minutes later to ask the bartender. Poor service - $118 for a house salad + caesar salad and 6 glasses of wine. Oops the waiter forgot to tell us it's $15 for a house chardonnay. Never again. But no worries, at this pace they will be out of business soon.

Mediocre at best
The food at Gansevoort 69 is mediocre at best, the menu lacking any 'diner' staples that pack a punch. Everything was on the over-priced side, and unjustifiably-meager portions were a turn-off. Florent at least 'kept it real,' so let's get back into THAT groove or give G69 the boot.
