Very good Indian food
I am from India and a very good cook of Indian food, so I have very discerning tastes when it comes to Indian food. This is one of the best Indian restaurant food I have had in the United states.. While this is not the greatest Indian food I have had, for restaurant food in the US, its really good. Ask for the level of spice you want, that makes a big difference. Definitely a place I always order from (and not grudgingly). Enjoy!

Best on 6th Street
I have never reviewed a restaurant online but have to say after several delivery orders that this is the most consistently good and most reasonably priced Indian joint in the Easy Village. I agree with the other reviews that this is more reasonable than most of the places on the block. Additionally I've been to India and given the sad examples in Manhattan for Indian food and the prices this place wind hands down for delivery. Atmosphere and service for dine in not so special bug no big deal. Either seek out a place in Queens or a take out only place on 10th Ave that is loaded with native speaking Indian immigrants that swear by the Queens restaurants. In Manhattan I take Gandhi over all.

The best Indian Restaurant I have been to
The food was extremely well prepared and delicious and far more than we could eat. We had a party of 5 and all were impressed and were delighted with their meal. The waiters were super helpful and extremely polite. Pay no attention to the lone negative review.

Not recommended
The cuisine is exactly what you would expect of a sub par Indian restaurant in Manhattan. You may as well eat at a Mall Food Court somewhere in the 'burbs. However the service is amazingly terrible. The waiters are resentful, and passive aggressive. When I asked to take my food home they mixed all 3 of my entrees together and placed it in the tiniest foil container. My date's entree was soo salty that it was inedible. The last time I ater here the waiter apologetically spilled water in my lap. I was nothing but forgiving and pleasant with these people.

Tastey Samosa and Naan
I ordered Ghandi for delivery- not the best indian but very good for delivery (especially when compared with some of the other Indian i've ordered in). The nan was DELICIOUS-- very doughey and soft, a generous portion-- and the vegetable samosa was very good-- not quite as flavorful as i'd like, but still tastey. Pretty good prices and portions-- and every vegetable entree comes with its own side of rice. I will definitely order from Ghandi again.

Don't get the bad service/food criticisms
So it's not as spicy as some of its competitors, but I have been here at least 8-10 times--the service has always been fine, the waiters have always been friendly and the food seems to be a few cuts above the other parade of Indian joints on E. 6th St. Best of all potentially is the price, which is a few dollars less per dish than almost all of the other places on 6th. . .
