Walk in on a Friday night and mostly all you see are sweaty middle-aged guys pining for some young thing they can dig their claws into. UGH! Another meat market!? For the area, it is quite pretty inside with large screen TVs but yet another sports bar!? Nooo!! Food was really not that great and a bit pricey for what you get. Plenty of other places nearby that dish up good grub less costly. Better to eat elsewhere first if you insist on going there for drinks. Some of the bar maids are nice but mostly struck me as snotty and were just there working for tips. The bar men seemed more genuinely nice, though some showed lack of interest as well. My girlfriends and I were quite put off one night when one of them suggested that he'd like to hang with us! Really, do we look like we so desperately want your company!? The nerve!! He was charming with his foreign accent but a bit old to still be acting the part of a playboy, don't you think!? Anyhow, the place does have a good vibe with the music. Just make sure the guys understand you're just there to hang out with friends and not be hit on all the time - sheesh!

This bar is amazing....the food is not great, but if you are looking for a fun atmosphere, great drinks and really nice bartenders this is it. Since it opened it has always drawn a crowd and the space is great. It is really big and open with a few pool tables in the back and lots of tvs. It is not just a sports bar but a classy place for after work or a saturday night. The music is also always fantastic!

They tried serving fancy food when they first opened. That didn't work out at all. Now they're doing a very traditional bar menu. Eh - nothing special. Some of the barmaids are very nice. Very friendly, and they make time to chat you up if it's not crazy busy. I can't say the same about the barmen though I probably wouldn't want them to chat with me much. They have a pretty cool setup in the back rooms with a few pool tables and the flat screens are really cool. Somehow there's no warmth that comes through in the place. Although it is mostly wood, there is a distinct feeling of coldness that can't be shaken off once inside. In short, it doesn't feel like home or someplace where one would be able to spend hours very comfortably. It's a shame because the space is quite roomy and the bar and decor quite elaborate. But it's a bar without a soul, I don't know how else to describe it. It's a place designed to serve you drinks and take your money. Not a place to make friends and share life experiences or memorable stories. I hope the owner or owners figure out what is missing and corrects it soon. I really like the location because it is close to work and home. I really would like to be a regular there but there isn't that special spark that makes me think to go back there if I've nothing else planned. I've asked all my friends that have gone there since they've opened and for some reason they all seem to agree with me. Perhaps if the managers or owners make a point to know their customers, maybe then they would all feel comfortable enough to want to frequent the establishment but that would take some really sincere effort. People are smart enough to see through any superficial efforts at familiarity. In short, there is no hook yet for the Galway Hooker, I really do wish there was.
