I just spent a quick weekend in NYC, and lunch at the Galaxy was a highlight of my visit. Went to some pretty nice places besides, but the Galaxy was easily the best bang for the buck. Hit it for lunch, wait staff was quick & freindly. We ordered their cheeseburger special with a glass of Stella, and I have to say that the 1/2 lb cheeseburger was the best I've had in ages, and at just 7 bucks for the burger and beer, was a hell of a deal, especially in Manhattan. I couldn't imagine having to work in a diner in NYC, too many friggen' Yankees with "please feed me like a king and charge me like a serf, and I'm in a hurry!" attitudes for me to deal with. The staff at the Galaxy probably has to put up with mucho BS everyday, but as far as I'm concerned, they do a great job with a smile on their face. I will definately be back.

i'm a hell's kitchen resident and i absolutely love it here. the best thing it's got going for them is speed. even delivery is exceptionally fast. the food is diner quality, what do you expect from a local diner? there menu is enormous, too, and i even have egg whites with veggies, AND whole weat pancakes... so they even have something for the health conscious. thumbs up for me.

My Husband and I came to Galaxy to eat brunch. I was standing in the middle of the restaurant with my 7month old in a car seat and told I could not sit down until my husband came in. At this point there were 5 or 6 open tables, and my husband had dropped me off, and was right behind me parking the car. He had to circle the block to find parking, but was literally 3mins behind me. During this time I asked the manager who was so rude and condesecending, if I could go ahead and sit and order for him because I was in the way of waitstaff and people serving and my son was accidentally bumped from the place being crowded. He told me no, and when I told him my husband was right behind me and I wanted to place all of our orders, he was EXTREMELY RUDE, and actually was sarcastic when I told him my husband would just be a second when he was parking. At this point my husband came in, and the tables were now all gone, and again we would have to wait with me holding our son in a car seat which was heavy, and being stuck in the way. No one was accomodating or helpful. If you have small children or a family that you are taking to eat heredon't go because it is not family friendly, and the manager is extremely rude and not caring or helpful. There are plenty of other places in the area that are friendly and accomodating for familys!!!

There is nothing exceptionally good or bad about this place. The menu is typical diner fare without anything to make it special or memorable. The prices are OK and the service is fast. The best thing this diner has going for it is location. You won't get the best meal you ever had, but you won't get the worst either.

Service was good, meals were ok but not "Melt in your mouth fanstastic" I like to go to galaxy for meetings, because it's a quiet and relaxed environment. The restrooms are not exactly clean. There was toilet paper all over the floor and didn't have paper towels or automatic hand dryer. I did not like their freshly squeezed orange juice.... and they charge you almost 4 dollars for a tiny 4 ounce cup. I like their breakfast better than anything else. Should you give it a try? Sure why not...it's classic diner food... just don't go in expecting exquisite tasting food.

We are from Europe and we love the breakfast in the galaxy. It is familiar diner and the atmosphere is positively special. When we come to new york, the first thing we do is going to galaxy (every year).

I love the Galaxy because it's a simple, no fuss diner that not everybody knows about, except Hell's Kitchen residents. The food is always good, especially the French Dip; Hot roast beef on a toasted garlic bun with a side of au jus gravy. Really delish! I also love the Galaxy because, unlike the overhyped and overpopulated Westway diner nearby, you can always get a table.
