Went here with my family during vacation and ordered roast beef sandwich and burgers. The roast beef was so dry. Two of three of the burgers were done well however one was red and falling apart, absolutely nowhere near done. Our server didn't speak much English so requests and questions never got answered.

We've been going to the Galaxy since the late 80s. It is a coffeeshop/diner with better than average food, it serves locals and tourists, at reasonable prices in an area where those can be hard to find. We have always found the service to be excellent. It can be crowded on a weekend morning, but there is a reason why... super fresh eggs & oj, an interesting mix of customers, in a more authentic NY diner setting than the usual chains. Great smoothies too. Good for brunch, after a show, anytime. It was renovated a few years ago, and although we miss the quirky paintings on the walls, it is now in good shape and has outdoor seating in nice weather. The ratings are for what it is - not for a five star restaurant. We look forward to having brunch at the Galaxy for another 25 years.

I live on 44th and 9th, and I disagree with all the tourists' reviews. Don not come here on Sunday, you will not get a seat. The wait staff is rude and not the best, when the place is packed it's always slowed to a crawl. The food is okay, but it will take you a while to get it; coffee refills are scant; and they'll stick you in a closet before they give you a booth with less than four people ("Only three? get out!"... literally).

It's like one of those old-skool NY diners with big lunch and dinner portions. After your meal, their coffee and dessert is really good, too. Lemon merengue always hits the spot. You'll like it, and more than likely, you'll make it one of your regulars.

Good food, w/ good-sized portions. A good place to go when you're hungry, and not in the mood for anything fancy. Staff is great. Polite and sufficiently attentive. Delivery is well done too. Quick, and well-prepared. Give it a try.

After lots of hits and misses in NYC this week, Galaxy Diner was just what I needed. The diner's manager wasn't the friendliest when I arrived, but the server more than made up for it. My hotel the Marriott Marquis suggested Galaxy when I wanted a late breakfast Wonderful place, service, and food.
