    Wake up Galanga

Galanga has been one of the better Thai places in that area for a long time. That said every restaurant has it's ups and downs. It seems like lately the great meals and good vibes have been fewer and far between. Maybe the owners think they found the right formula and they don't have to pay attention. The food is still good sometimes but the consistency is off. Somebody is not paying attention. Galanga we love you ( at our office) but please pay attention to the food and often confused service, we want you back.

    I used to love it.

galanga used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but i went back yesterday and i was very disappointed. my friends arrived first, and they told me that they didn't know who their waitress was because two of them had stopped by and one of them seem to not understand what they were saying but they both took their order for drinks. when the waitress came to the table, i was trying to figure out who was going to be our server and she didn't seem to understand what i was telling her then she smiled and walked away. when the other girl came to get our appetizer order, i told her i wanted the duck salad and then i turned to my friend to ask her if she wanted to order a cocktail (cus i was gonna order one for me) and then when i turned around to tell the server, she was gone! i joked around asking if our server was a ninja cus she kept disappearing!. so then she came back with our salad which was pretty good but i never had a chance to order that drink. We ordered our food, i had the 5 spices duck and that was pretty good but my friend hated her shrimp in clay pot so i switched with her because she was my guest and i wanted her to have a nice time... i hated the shrimp in clay pot. my other friend order the coconut soup and he hated it too. i was so disappointed, because i convinced my friends to come to this restaurant and i talked so well about it because it used to be great. i think galanga is no longer one of my favorite restaurants in the city. the atmosphere is still nice, but my plate was chipped in two different spots and the table was sticky. i dont think i will be returning.

    great for lunch

I've only been to Galanga for the lunch special. The food has always been great, the service is good and quick and there is plenty of space. I definitely recommend it for lunch.

The food and service at Galanga West 4th are way below the standard of other Thai restaurants. First of all, the food is not all that great and not to mention my friends &I were rushed to leave the restaurant as soon as we were done with dinner. No one even asked if we wanted to check out the dessert menu. I ordered a chicken pad thai and the dish was served cold and the duck salad barely had any ducks; it was literally 3 pieces mixed with lots of carrot sheds. Just a disappointing experience overall. My friends and I for sure are not going back!

    Village treasure

Have tried every pad-thai joint from here to Chang Mai and will say that this is one of the tastiest and nicest Thai places in town. Sure there are one of two better in in Queens, but Galanga is delicious, and it's obvious over the years that they keep getting better. I'm not sure where you'd get a better deal for such yummy food. I wrote this because I dined there on Saturday night and just couldn't believe how happy I was, and how I can't wait to go back. If the service seems a little spotty I think that much of the staff doesn't speak english so well, so cut them a little slack. ps; for buget eaters who live on lunch specials alone, you're saving money but I think off the menu selections like Kow Soi, Laab Gai, Duck Salad and some of the shrimp dishes are worth the extra couple bucks
