Potent margaritas are worth every penny, but the kitchen seriously needs some help with a few of the recipes. Enchiladas verdes are good, as are those with mole, but the tacoswhether fish, carne, whateverare blah! Very unadorned, very bland. Where's the spice? if they're going to show up at the table this naked, they need an appropriate sauce as an accompaniment. Like, a nice jalapeno remoulade for the fish tacos. Hey Gabriella's ...take the hint already!

I met a few friends here for brunch last weekend. While the food was delicious nouveau takes on Mexican cuisine, the service was probably so poor it was comical, I think the waiter forgot about our orders and it took so long to get our food that the buslady came and cleared our table as if we had finished our meals while we waited. That being said, the mexican scramble and chilequiles were awesome so I will probably give them another shot, but this may become a delivery only place if the quality of service repeats itself.

We loved the old Gabriella's on Amsterdam Avenue--consistently great food, perfect margaritas, and a friendly family atmosphere. If you had to wait for a table, they would remember you, and get you when the table was ready. The new incarnation is great if you enjoy rude hostesses, long waits, and slow service. Tonight we waited an hour at the bar for our table, which was supposed to be a 20 minute wait, and were then advised that the hostesses gave the table away because we didn't respond when they called out our name.

For many long years I have wandered the Mexican restaurants of Manhattan, searching for that most ellusive of prizes - the Perfect Frozen Margarita. I am happy to report that the Quest has now come to an end. On a recent Fall afternoon my wife and I enjoyed a delicious brunch on the peaceful, secluded and heated patio at Gabrielas. The brunch menu is extensive and the staff was very accomodating and friendly. The frozen Mango Margarita had a perfect texture, smooth and firm, yet easily sippable. The balance of sweet and sour and tequila in these margaritas is truly sublime. If you appreciate good food and top notch frozen cocktails you should check this place out.

Gabriela's is still the greatest Mexican food on the UWS and perhaps the city. I was wary about going back after reading some of these reviews but I had to check out the new digs and the incredible outdoor cafe (which is the without doubt the nicest outdoor dinning on the UWS!). I ordered camarones rellenos app and the chicken special and my guest orderd the special seafood salad. All was incredible. Better than I remembered at the old location. The manager told me that the chef Fernando is the same as at the old location, the guy making the chicken is the same as well and in fact most of the key staff people stayed on. The manager also told me that they can make most of the old menu by special request. The place is hopping on a Saturday night and the decor is beautiful. I'll be back again this week to try the rotisiere chicken to see if its still as great as it used to be. I would even say based on this experience that although its priced higher than it used to be, every thing else is much improved! Ill be back again and again.

The outside patio is fabulous in summer, the drinks are strong and tasty, as is the authentic mexican food. the early bird special is the best deal going!! I will be back.

If you eat here, just know that it is not the same Gabrielas from Amsterdam at 93rd street. This one is a trendy, preppy, have a little mexican styled food- with that great drink place. I do love that they have heaters outside for when it gets chilly but know that your food is pricey because of it and you get less of it. You feel a little like your in Mexico and wished you were in the all inclusive plan when your bill comes and the only thing that made you full were the chips because they were free. If you've never been to the old Gabrielas for good mexican food or dont care about how much you spend on chicken, then you don't know what your missing and you will probably love the place. It is better than most of the nearby Mexican spots.
