This restaurant started out great when it opened. Last 3 visits--only disappointment. I can make better Mexican food! The place is beautiful, but that's all. We were ignored, dismissed, amd there were not many diners at brunch. That was the last time!

I've been to Gabriela's around 25 or 30 times, almost always for the margaritas and the quesadillas after work or on a nice weekend afternoon. Both are the best I've had on the UWS. Occassionally, I'll venture a bit further afield on the menu, but these are the standbys. I usually sit at the bar, and the bartenders are friendly and pour the drinks with a heavy hand. If it's nice out, I'll sit on the outdoor patio, which is a great spot. But then you have to deal with the servers, who constantly try to upsell you and leave a bit to be desired in terms of attentiveness.

Went here looking for the old Gabriela's atmosphere, which is completely gone. Gabriela's used to be a homey, fun, family style mexican restaurant with tastey food. The restaurant has tried to go upscale, but the interior feels fake. The food was unpleasant. Guacomole was flavorless and was served in a frozen pastry shell. ?!? I honestly don't know what I was eating, I had a shrimp dish and the shrimp tasted canned, plus it was smothered in cheese. Even the rice and beans were of poor quality. The service too was subpar. The waiter was slow and seemed lost, and did not match whatsoever the "young and cool" atmosphere this place is going for. In all the food was pretty much inedible, and the prices are not cheap in the least.

Ordered at 7 pm on a Sunday and told 30 minutes. 8:15 delivery guy called confused and received very cold food at 8:30. Cold mexican is not the way to go for taste or your stomach. I might go in person but NEVER for delivery.

I often read these crazy rants on menu pages and think that one person has one bad experience--but this is based on a number of recent trips to Gabriella's this year. The food is pretty good, but every time we leave we swear we will never go back b/c the service is SO poor, and it is pretty expensive for a neighborhood spot. If you choose to go to Gabriella's you should know what you are signing up for including--long wait for a table...long wait for someone to take your order...long wait for drinks...entrees that don't come out at the same time...things you ask for will get forgotten...and then they will act like they are doing you a favor when they finally get around to bringing it... For an expensive neighborhood spot the food isn't that good to get us back.

I used to love this place when it first opened but stay away! The mararitas are no good --too sweet and the tequila is like rut gut. And the waiter, the last time we were there left us turning in the wind without any service for a good 20 minutes.

I'm not one to review restaurants, but I had such a poor experience at this place that I thought I should start today. The service was absolutely atrocious. Our drinks arrived quickly, but we waited half an hour before we even saw our waiter again. When we told him that we still hadn't gotten our food, he said nothing but walked away. We waited another 40 minutes, and then we asked another waiter to find ours for us. The other waiter called over to him, who, without even coming over to us and apologizing, said "It's coming," and walked away. Twenty minutes later, our food arrived. No apologies, no offers to refill our drinks. Usually when a restaurant has messed up this bad, they at least give you refills on the nachos at the table or at least even say sorry. No such service. He avoided us the rest of the time and didn't even ask us how our food was when it did arrive, ONE HOUR after we had ordered it. I'm never going back.
