    once great, now disaster

savory is a fantastic concept and, for a while, was great in reality. it has gone completely down hill. advertising they are open sunday through thursday, every week for the last several they have not opened one or more days each week. a totally simple menu (which is part of the attraction) completely confuses the order taker - they have no idea what they have on their own menu, resulting in a 15 minute mind boggling conversation just to order 2 dishes. Of course, when they don't know what's on the menu and, therefore, what you're ordering, your order does not come out right and 4 of my last five orders have been totally wrong. while i wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, and very much wanted to believe they could pull it off, savory is an unmitigated disaster that i'd avoid at all costs.

What delivery was meant to be

How many times have you experienced mediocre (at best!) delivery in Manhattan. 60 minute wait times. Soggy food. Rude delivery people. Just disaster. Say no more. I'm a loyal Savory cusotmer and honestly never write reviews. Finally had to this time. So I place my usual order (which is always delicious), and around 30 minutes in (about how long it usually takes), I get a call from Savory. To let me know that they are a bit behind and to apologize! WHAAAAA? Never heard of that before. Food then arrives in under 15 minutes (45 mins is NOT bad!) with extra brownies and a hand-written note. Wow. These guys do it right. Wish them all the success.

    Worth a splurge

Savory is more expensive than a lot of delivery, but that's because their food isn't deliver-quality, it's restaurant quality. I always order from them when I work late (since they're dinner only) and am never disappointed. A few times my food's taken a long time, but since they're still a relatively new company I'll give them a pass on this. Get the mac, the chicken tenders (clearly I love little kid food). Also recommend their pasta dishes-- enough food for two meals!

    Fool Me Twice...

I wanted to like Savory. But there's nothing redeeming about it. After being disappointed with my MAC burger a few weeks ago, I decided to give them another try last night. My husband and I ordered ordinary cheeseburgers...for $15 each! If they can't get that right, what can they get right? My husband couldn't even get through half of his -- it just did not taste good. And although they make a big deal in their pitch of perfecting delivery food (yes, they separated out the cold burger toppings from the warm patty, so you can put them together yourself), our bottom buns were completely covered in grease and soggy. I've never had that happen with regular restaurant delivery. And I've never paid $15 for a delivery burger elsewhere. Will not be ordering again.

    Not recommended

While the food was actually pretty good, the service was a complete disaster. From the order taker, to the manager, to the delivery person, no one seemed to know what he or she was doing. The free meal, offered as an introductory promotion at our building, was a sample size but was not advertised as such. The other item that we ordered was supposed to come with a free side, which they failed to include despite having specifically talked to the manager about it after experiencing confusion with the order taker. Not "prompt", not "relaxed", and definitely not "exceptional hospitality", as advertised. Definitely not the way to launch a new business in NYC.

    Good & fast

I got the chicken fingers with chili sauce. loved the sauce, the chicken fingers were bland yet salty. however, the smashed red potatos - sooo good! and they gave me 2 little doughnut holes for free in my bag :) also, it was pouring down rain and i got my order in <30min, and it was all hot and the chicken was crispy - nothing was soggy. i'm excited to try other items!

    Great idea and execution

I think its funny reading some of the negative reviews on here because i know by working in the industry there is just no pleasing some people.Every time i have ordered it has been amazing.Food was hot, delicious and the service speedy.Dont let people writing negative reviews about "everything" ruin something so great for you.We at the office order atleast twice a week and have no complaints yet.Keep up the good work Savory, you guys rock!
