Mediocre
It's extremely unimpressive. The fish is not sushi quality and looks stale, rice is overcooked, even a soy sauce is very light - brown and watery substance. A place for someone who have never eaten sushi before, but not for New Yorkers. Typical Chinese made sushi. What a disappointment. The watrses were friendly though.

Awesome!!
This is the first sushi restaurant I've ever been to and my expectations were grim. After reading many reviews about fish not being fresh at some places I was a little squeamish about trying raw sushi. I choose this spot because of the reviews and I'm glad I had my first sushi experience here, the food was amazing!! We ordered a variety of sushi rolls including some cooked rolls (spicy white fish tempura and golden dragon) and some tuna and salmon rolls, chicken teriyaki and beef fried rice. OMG the rice was EXCELLENT, very flavorful and the chicken teriyaki was plentiful and savory. As for the sushi, I was thoroughly impressed. The fish was so fresh I hardly believed I was eating raw fish and I even tried a piece of eel which was very good as well. I HIGHLY recommend this place! I am a very strict food critic, and if a restaurant can impress me then we have a winner!! I am so glad I had my first piece of sushi here, otherwise I might have had a bad experience and never tried it again. After coming here, I will forever be a fan of sushi :)

Some good sushi
Ordered delivery last night; sooo glad I found this place! Delivery was quick and the sushi was fresh and yummy. But it's not fast food sushi, so a little pricier but you get your money's worth. Will definitely order again. It also has later delivery hours, which is convenient. One of these days, I'll check out the place.

Hidden gem of Midtown
Been going here for years! Although there was a construction period for a while, I realized they had new owners. The new owners definitely made this place better. The fish is very fresh every time I go here. Portions are generous so the value definitely meets my expectation. Cooked or raw, this is the place I would go for Japanese food.

Does the take-out job well, but wouldn't come for a meal
I order the two- or three-roll lunch special once a week or so and take it to go, and it is consistently good. Definitely not the best sushi I've ever had, but it's fresh enough and they don't screw it up. I wouldn't come back to sit down for a meal here, but for take-out, it's always ready quickly and I can depend on it to taste good.

It was fine, the fish was fresh enough but everything was kind of bland. My veggie tempura sushi was mostly onion.

Live up to the reputation
After hearing all the hype about Fuji Sushi 56, I had to check it out.. I absolutely adored it! The food was perfectly portioned and taste was right on point. My server's recommendations were great and a big help considering the menu is a little hard to understand. Prompt service and friendly. I will most certainly return.
