Recommended...and BYO!
They don't advertise it but it's BYO with no corkage fee. The special rolls are $14-15 and not worth it, BUT everything else is. Regular rolls are just as fresh and delicious. Very attentive service.

Poor, overpriced
We eat a whole lot of sushi and for the awkward atmosphere, overpriced rolls, and understaffed service, this was just an awful experience.

Good option
Delivery is pretty fast. Sushi is fresh for the price. There are less expensive options around, but I find Fuji Yama to be reliable even if it's a few dollars more. I have only had the sushi. The entrees look interesting. The restaurant is small with dim lighting; nice setting for a date.

decent restaurant, better options around
I have been to this restaurant a couple of times, service was good, food was ok though I felt that the value received was not that great. It's an ok restaurant, nothing that I would go out of my way to visit, and in the UES there are as good or better options.

Fantastic Sushi on the UES!
My boyfriend and I try a new sushi restaurant in the area every Sunday and I constantly think of breaking the "new" rule to go back here! We had a fantastic meal and Fuji Yama is one of the best sushi places in the city. The staff was extremely friendly and we were even offered a complimentary chef's special tasting at the sushi bar while waiting for our first rolls to come. All the fish was extremely fresh and everything was very tasty. I will definitely be back here soon.

Excellent food
Four of us shared many appetizers and entrees and everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Only caveats: bill can definitely add up with such small portions and the air conditioner, IF there is one, is so weak that it was unfortunately pretty uncomfortable (we asked them to make it cooler, to no avail).

sushi heaven!
Tonight was my first visit to Fuji Yama. My boyfriend and I have been to multiple sushi restaurants on the UES but this was by far one of our best finds! It was a quiet atmosphere, both servers we had were kind, and the sushi was fresh and delicious! I definitely recommend the sex on the beach special roll. It was innovative and so tasty- I felt like I died and went to sushi heaven! I will definitely head back to Sushi Yama for my next date night!!
