    the worst place ever

Went to this "authentic" restaurant last night, based on the previous reviewer's recommendation. The only people in the place was a family of four...the owners. The children (ages about 10 and 12) waited on us and couldn't describe any of the dishes. The menu consisted of exotic dishes such as duck web, pork intestine, shredded fish bellies etc. We ordered the most innocuous things on the menu. Pork with lychees and beef with peppers. Both were mostly fat. In addition, there was no tea served and no rice. Nobody even asked if we wanted any. I have eaten in many interesting places in my time, and enjoy exploring cheap good food in NYC which is why I tried this one. They were unfriendly and the food and the service was terrible. I do not recommend it.

    I Followed Her Advice ...

Dropped in alone on a Friday at 4:00 PM. Not a busy time, so I have no idea what the place is like when it is busy. Only the staff was on hand. Ordered a couple of appetizers, and was told that one of them was only served at breakfast. The very helpful waitress suggested two other dishes that were similar to what I had wanted (and less money, also). I followed her advice ... good move! When the food arrived, the waitress explained to me what each condiment sitting on the table was, since there were more than the obligatory bottles of soy sauce and hot sauce. She then advised me as to which condiments most Chinese people use for the two dishes in front of me. I followed her advice ... GOOD MOVE! The food was very good, and well enhanced by the condiments I had added at her suggestion. The portions were so large that I had enough of my noodle dish left to take home with me. Like most of these places, the atmosphere is non-existent. But, we don’t frequent this type of restaurant for atmosphere. Pleasant service, good food, and an overall enjoyable experience more than compensate for that. Oh, now here’s the real ‘kicker’. Total cost for my two plates of food ...... $3:00!!! I’m a native New Yorker, and have knocked around this town for many, many years. When it comes to, Best Bang For The Buck, this place is right up there with the best of 'em. So, if you follow my advice .
