    delicious

this place is great, even if it always seems dark and kind of empty. they're really really nice, and gave an amuse bouche and an ice cream dessert complimentary. the spider roll was delicious, and a great deal. definitely go here!

    Love Fu!

Great sushi place! I've been a few times and each time is better than the last. Fresh ingredients, unique sushi rolls, personal service from the owner, Fu, nice decor, excellent price. The last time we brought a friend from out of town, who is a big sushi lover. Fu suggested the entire menu: huge sashimi platter, rolls and some specialties. Food was phenomenal. We expected the bill to be exorbitant. It was very reasonably priced. My new favorite sushi place. We are hooked!

    eh

i took the advice of the other reviewers and ordered in. The green salad was not great and the spicy tuna waS a bit too spicy. like i couldn't taste the other food after. the eel avocado roll was good, but i wont order from here again.

    Also new fave!

I went there couple of months ago after reading the reviews and I was definitely not disappointed. I realize I always use reviews but never contribute, and I thought I really should do it for this place, which has become my favorite sushi place in the city. The owner is amazing, and you can tell he has set the generous and high quality standards of the place. I eat sushi once a week, and the prices at this place make that possible. There is NO comparison with any under $50 per person places (this place is more like $15-$20!!). This is an extremely affordable place with the quality of a good expensive place, and a treatment better than even expensive places. Fu, please don't change. Keep exactly what you have going on, don't cut cost, service, quality, or make prices higher. This place deserves big line-ups!

    Best Sushi in NYC

This is the best sushi restaurant that I have ever been to and I have been to many sushi restaurants in the 10 years that I have been living in the city. They have very unique entrees. They have prepared for me dishes that I have never seen before. The chef's are excellent. It is well worth the trip down to the LES.

    Hidden Gem!

Went to Fu Sushi for the first time last night and I was blown away! We came in and asked to be seated at the sushi bar in the back and boy was that the right decision. The chef surprised us a few minutes after we sat down with spicy tuna wrapped in avocado slices and they were out of this world! Next, another tasting dish came out, this time it was asparagus tempura with a sweet and sour chili sauce to dip the asparagus into. The slightly smoky flavor of the asparagus perfectly matched the chili sauce, a truly innovative dish. And before our sushi order came out they again brought out a comped dish- one of the chefs pulled out a blowtorch and began working away on a piece of fish- I guess he noticed our interest and sent us a sample, charred himachi doused with soy sauce and topped by a jalapeno slice, again, unordered but amazing. Now the one strike against Fu is during this bevy of tasting dishes they forgot to bring out our miso soup, worth noting, however the dishes they did bring far surpassed anything a simple miso soup could provide. And the waitress was very apologetic and immediately took it off our bill- no big loss in the end. They then brought out our actual order, which again did not disappoint. The Spicy yellow tail and jalapeno roll was well prepared and contained just the right amount of heat. And the pieces of salmon sushi were top notch. Finally they brought out their 'Ultimate Tuna' dish- a duo of tuna. On one side there is seared tuna thinly sliced and doused with two different sauces, then next to it is a ball of spicy tuna covered in benito flakes. Visually that almost reminded me of a ball of fried ice-cream, different but appealing. Flavor-wise the dish was 100% on the mark, one of their more expensive dishes but well worth it. And when we were done they brought the check accompanied with slices of watermelon in a martini glass- a fantastic end to the meal. Be aware, this place is BYOB- so bring the Sapporo with you. All this, and I'm not kidding you, 35 bucks.
