Not lovelier the second time around
My first lunch at Friedman's was excellent, a very tasty burger. This time around, less than meh. Both my friend and I had specials. My fried oyster eggs benedict was a loss on every possible count: eggs were waaay overdone (close to hard-boiled), only 3 tiny oysters, and maybe a teaspoon of hollandaise sauce. My friend liked her chicken chilaquiles, though. Both of us were surprised at the prices: unlisted on the menu, and pretty high. The place is definitely nothing to speak of, atmosphere-wise, but that is the norm for Chelsea Market. The service, however, was quite good: nice host, very nice waiter. I might try it again, but definitely not a destination for me anymore.

Moved while eating
Expect to be moved from your seat after receiving your food--the most disrespectful thing I've ever encountered in a restaurant. Never returning and will advise others to do the same. Respect where customers are seated and seat newcomers accordingly--this is not a difficult concept to understand especially when other seating is available. Service speaks volume and this restaurant lacks in volume.

Delivery
I had walked by this place in Chelsea market before and it looked pretty cute. So I grabbed a take-out menu and ordered a few chicken salad sandwiches for my office today. In my CSS (chicken salad sandwich), I got mealy tomato, too-big lettuce leaves, falling-apart multi-grain bread. Cost? $12 including tip. Time? Took 1 hour for delivery. I had high hopes for this place, but dang.

Good food, disappointing staff
I went to Friedman's Lunch for the first time and while the food was good (it's tricky to screw up scambled eggs and a biscuit) and our waitress was very sweet and eager to please... The hostess was rude, and their busboy threw out one of my bakery packages from the market before I'd made it 100ft from the door of the restaurant. I had left a white paper bag of cookies on the table half hidden behind a flower bouquet. When I walked out I made it as far as The Lobster Place next door before spinning around to retrieve my cookies. When I went back the hostess rudely told me that she doubted anyone had touched my bag. Disappointing end to a decent brunch.

Great!
We had a late breakfast at Friedman's. It was the best breakfast we had while in NYC. The food was made from excellent ingrediants. The bacon the best I've had in awhile. Thick but not too thick. We had everything fromm eggs to french toast. Everything was excellent. We watched the sous chef prepare for the lunch crowd. It was like watching a machine. Exact and every movement made with precision. That kind of prep is a clear indication of quality food preparation. The food was quality in every way!
