Fresh Basil's Trattoria

Have been ordering from this place for quite some time. The food is decent but the people who answer the phone on this place are unfriendly and today's conversation was just the breaking point. Won't be ordering from here again.

Fresh Basil's is dirt cheap, the food is amazing, and could be the best take out restaurant I've ever ordered from. The restaurant is far from nice inside but for $18.95 you can get veal piccata that comes with a salad, vegetables, pasta, and a great garlic roll. The filet mignon is also excellent. I order from this place at least once a week.

I ordered this on Seamless Web and the stated wait time was 45-60 minutes. I waited an hour and a half!! When I called to inquire, the woman who answered was so rude. She didn't offer to call the messenger to see where he was and of course when he got there, he didn't understand what I was saying. And all of that for food that was unremarkable. I will never order from here again, because the service was so poor.

After a month in the USA, as Italians we obviosly needed italian food, without going too far from our hotel. Although the reviews seemed contraddictory, we decided to try to have dinner at Fresh Basil. The food made the most: two huge plates of pasta (rigatoni al forno with tomato and cheese and penne alla vodka) as main course, and a lovely entree (crispy mozzarella with pizzaiola sauce) fully satisfied our hungry. Pasta easily passed our test: it was cooked as the italian receipts usually raccomend ("al dente"), and the vodka sauce, despite not typical of Italy, provided an interesting, soft taste. We noticed only two cons: the first-floor room is very small, and the waitress are quite noisy while preparing the delivery dishes too close to guests' table.

Based on the reviews here, I expected a good dining experience and it was very much the contrary. My food (Combo Trio) was overcooked, and bland. My guest was equally disappointed. Bottom line is, I won’t be returning.

I got delivery, so I can't say much about the service. What I can say is that the food came earlier than they said it was. Also, the delivery presentation was very nice my pasta came in its own little box. The pasta (Emiliana) was one of the best I've ever tasted, (perfectly cooked and spiced, sauce was delicious, asparagus and mushrooms perfectly tender) and the roll it came with was exceptional as well. I will definitely order from here again!

My husband and I are from Toronto. We were in NY for the day. I checked the net for one great Italian restaurant to try in NY. My husband and I are Italian blood so we are very picky. When I checked the reviews on this website on this restaurant, I thought it wouldn't hurt to try. We shared the penne arrabiata and the combo trio of veal, chicken and eggplant. I can honestly tell you it is the best Italian food I ever tasted in a restaurant. The menu is a true home style Italian cooking. The prices are ellent for the quality you get. The service was very friendly. We are looking forward to coming back to NY so we can visit Fresh Basil again. Oh yes, we love NY! Ciao for now.
