    Today Show treat

My mom and I were given a chance to dine and meet the Scotto family. WHAT A TREAT. We both got a special entree for lunch and it was AMAZING . My mom is bringing my father back in the near future to fine dine there too!

Park Ave prices and 7th Ave value

$500 for 4 people with one bottle of $70 wine? C'mon ... They should rename it Scotto of Rodeo Drive.

    Good food, poor service

After being squished into a table practically on top of the tables next to us, we sat there for a while waiting for our waiter to come. Once she came, I don't think she could have seemed less interested in serving us. She made it seem like we were doing her a favor by giving her our order. The table next to us sat down after us and got their food before us while the other table next to got their before us and did not get their food until after we did. When our appetizers came, they were both missing something and had to be sent back. The food was very good, however very overpriced and the loud and squished ambiance combined with the rude wait staff would probably make it a place that I would not run to return to.

Try out the next door place

Try out the place right next to it - also run by Fresco - its called "Fresco by Scotto on the go!" It has many popular italian dishes, soups, fresh grilled pizza, salad, make your own pasta, and rolls! It's really quite good and as good as the food at any upscale italian restaurant. Of course for takeout, a meal does cost a bit more than others - about $10-$12. The "rollups" are really great!

    Solid Food but Overpriced

I've been to Fresco twice for lunch. It attracts a lot of business people and the dining room is attractive and bright. The food is tasty, particularly the unusual long bread sticks. I was very pleased with the Florida Red Snapper. As other reviewers have no doubt pointed out, the prices at this restaurant are a bit out of line---it seems many of the entrees that are priced in the $35 to $40 range should be at least $10 less. You could get much better bang for your buck in any number of Italian restaurants in midtown.

    Don't Bother Save Your Money

It started off bad and just got worse. Reservations for 5 for a birthday party were made 2 weeks in advance for 5:30. We got there at 5:15 and although no one was sitting at the tables they would not seat us till 5:30 then they tried to sit us at a booth for 4 people which was impossible. We then had to go back to the front of the restaurant until they set up another table even though there were other empty tables that we were told were reserved. The bread basket was ordinary. The Risotto as an appetizer was probably the best part of the meal. I got the Gnocchi with lump crab meat, it was bland with no taste even with the grated cheese on it, It had a few cooked tomatoes and a piece of pepper and the crab meat was almost non existant all for a pasta dish at $25.00. The Scottish Salmon was good but it should be for $33.00 a plate. The deserts looked but but I didn't have any I couldn't wait to get out of the place which by now was packed and very noisy. By the way the bill was over $300.00. There are many great Italian restaurants in NY but this is not one of them unless you're on an unlimited expense account.

    The Fresco Ego

We live in Northern Calif. and visit Manhattan frequently. We love everything about NYC. The food and the people are always a highlight. The only negative meal in recent memory was Fresco by Scotto. The food was average, overcooked lobster, oversalted vongole, and a waiter who could care about only one thing, himself. If only the waiter checked back to see if we were OK with our choices. When we told him he seemed uninterested. It was the one time in my life where I just let it go. When we returned, I wrote a letter to the Scotto family and faxed it to their office. What is really disappointing is they never acknowledged the time I took to give feedback. I also run a business and I found that to be arrogant and unacceptable.
