Where else would you rather eat?

I have to start by saying that I have not eaten in every Manhattan restaurant, but of those I have, Fred's is the one I like the best, check my ratings, I have felt less welcome at some of my own family get togethers! Stawberry butter forever! I have just booked a wedding present for my cousin and as usual, even though I was calling from Ireland, I might as well as well have been "just around the block". I don't get to NYC as much as I would like too now, there is a limit to how long anyone can study at Columbia , but the first and last place I eat is Fred's, it really is that good .

    Good food great service

I have eaten here several times and each time the food has been good to excellent and service has always be couretous and very good. I enjoy the fact that i can dine outside and my dog can sit, outside the fence, next to me. Oh, and he too can attest to the delicious burgers. Good family place too!

    Perfect, except for the food

I have visited this restaurant for brunch and dinner - both disappointing. The brunch dishes were not done very well, and the dinner food continued the consistency. The sandwiches are decent, but I?d stray way from the mussels and the Italian dishes that were sent back by two of those I dined with (they both had never done such a thing). The atmosphere inside is decorated with photographs of neighborhood dogs staring at the energetic bar area, and the dining room is put together very nicely. Outside dining is pleasant, although it does face a local bar that seems to attract riff raff like that of a neon light to nats. The service however was spectacular, attentive and friendly, even requesting our qualms with the rejected dishes for future reference - no charge. With such a great location, staff, and atmosphere ? this place is in dire need of competent chef to get high marks.

    Best Meatloaf, Chili & Pasta

Excellent friendly staff, great burgers, I love having this place in my neighborhood. The bar scene is good too. It doesn't interfere with the dining room at all. They have a great outdoor cafe and now I hear they are open for lunch and brunch every day!

    Delicious Cheddar Bacon Burgers

Fred's is a nice neighborhood spot..I had never been there before and was a bit skeptical but when I bit into their cheddar bacon burger it was delicious. The burger was pretty good size nice and well done with great crunchy golden fries. The atmosphere was great, who doesn't love dogs.

    Somewhat disappointed

Mixed reviews on the food -- calamari were good. Steak fajita, dry & mostly flavorless. On a good note, the staff were pleasant and attentive, and the atmosphere is fun (albeit some may find it too noisy). Also, expect long lines...

    Feels like home

I live in SF. When I visit NY I always visit Fred's. A long and tasty menu means you can keep coming back to try something new.
