    Their Take-Out is Great

My husband and I had been to Fred's several times--and were happy with our meals, if not blown away. One night we dicided to see if they delivered. They do. I ordered the Cobb salad. They were friendly on the phone; the delivery was far faster than I expected; and the salad was great. I should put them on speed dial.

    Disappointed

I ordered take-out from Fred's. My order arrived quickly, but the experience was downhill from there. The reason I picked Fred's was because supposedly the macaroni and cheese was great here. I could go on about how aggravated and upset I was when I finally tasted the dish - but I will simply say that after two bites I did not want any more. And that was the story of the overpriced $13 macaroni and cheese. I had the wings - they were edible. The fries aren't worth trying.

    Very good Friday night dinner

The hamburgers were great with salad and French fried potatoes. The baked macaroni was not quite as good. The service and atmosphere was excellent. We will definitely return.

    Best Neighborhood Restaurant

This is hands down the best place on the Upper West Side. No nonsense, no hassle, just great, friendly service and consistently excellent food with great variety and portions. Excellent value for your money. This place is always busy and always a great experience

    A letdown

The first time I went to Fred's the food was just so-so, but the service was good so we didn't complain. The last time I will have ever been to this place, the service was just about non-existent. We had to scavenge our own forks and never once got a coffee refill. Both times we were seated at the same table so I don't know what the problem was. It's the first time I've left zero tip so you know it must have been a subpar experience. The food went from mediocre to tasteless and lukewarm.

    Excellent! Fun! Great Food!

Love Fred's! Went with a group a couple of Friday nights ago and we had a blast! Started at the bar and then we moved into the other room for dinner. Excellent steak, great appetizers, Mac n cheese is awesome. Great service! We headed back to the bar after dinner. Great music and scene! Love this place.

Great atmosphere, but the food was not so great

Well, I said it all in the title above. Had brunch there couple of weeks ago with friends and the Eggs Benedict were the worst ever. Not hot, english muffins weren't toasted, etc. etc. The huevos rancheros were just as poor. French toast wasn't bad. Service was OK. (Loved the dog pictures and the cozy setting brick though.)
