On vacation from Sacramento, CA we stumbled onto Freda's and were not disappointed! With all the great food in NYC this little gem was a terrific find. The owners are hard-working and a pleasure to visit with. Needless to say we went back two more times during our short stay and will find our way there next time! :~d

My third time eating Freda's food, and the food was as good as ever! The selection is small, but everything they make is wonderful, with hefty portions for a very low price. The first two times I went into the restaurant, and like others, I've had difficulty getting delivery in the past. Tonight was different though - my order was taken cheerfully and professionally, and the food arrived hot and delicious in a reasoable period of time. Give this great neighborhood place a try!

Way more reasonable then other neighborhood Caribbean restaurants. And the food tastes great. Hefty portions.

Freda's Caribbean & Soul Cuisine is New York City's best kept secret in terms of Caribbean Cuisine. The food, atmosphere and prices are it's greatest value.

From the sirvice to the food, freda's is amazing. The only thing that upsets me is that whenever I call, from 3:00 in the morning, to 6:00 in the night, they don't deliver.

As a person who loves to support local businesses I try to be as positive as possible and give tons of leeway however, having experienced Freda's for take-out, dine in and pick-up I have to be very honest and say that the food is brilliant, but the service continues to be abysmal. For dine in they often take forever to just do the simple things like get you a menu, water and take your order. For pick-up, even if you take your sweet time getting there the food is often not ready and you still have to wait. For delivery as others have noted it is hit or miss sometimes they do sometimes they don't and that really is a bummer. I do hope that they stay in business because the food is actually the real star here. Truthfully though as great as the food is if they do not get some better staff and get themselves organized the restaurant will fail. I know it is family run but this is one family that really should leave the running of the place to someone else and stick to producing the excellent cuisine. My 2 cents.

Was very pleased that I could get Island food outside of Jamaica. Took my kids and good friend and all of us were very happy. The chicken + roti were so excellent. Will try the jerk chicken next time. Very sweet owner who took care of all of us efficiently and pleasantly. And the bill was so tiny! Great deal.
