Great Food Poor Service
Yes food is great but service is poor...I've ordered from there a couple of times and seems like I always order when they are short staff. I have herd every excuse as to why my order has to be cancelled. If you would like to eat from Frida's my advice is to go pick Up your food unless you like to wait two hours before you eat.

good food
I just have to say I never went to a Restaurant tht I had to ask for everything tht should have already been given..but the food was good....but I will never eat their again......

Get the brown stew chicken
Tried this place through groupon and absolutely loved it. You get large portions for the price and the food was great. It hit the spot. Service was excellent and I really enjoyed the cozy, intimate atmosphere. A definite recommend.

A Great Experience
The food is always good. Freda is always there and wants to make sure you are sure that you are fed well and have something left for your next adventure in NYC! You will also leave with a story.

So So Food
The food was ok - at best. Yams were right out of the can and overly sweet. Plantains were soggy with oil. Will not return. There are many places in the city that are worth going to for great island food. This is not one of them. Don't waste your time or money.

Delicious and Pleniful
What a find. I have tried other carribbean restaurants but this is the first time for this one. There is no comparison between thos one and the others. It is trinidadian/grenadian based cooking and the best of all. We had a party of 10 and all regardless of their choice of entree raved about the taste and portions. Since it was a Sunday they didnt have the full range of deserts but it didnt matter because most couldnt eat more or took the desert home.The setting is much prettier than in the fotos online and there is a large flat screen tv and ipod music if you ask. It is light and airy and clean and bright with a wall to wall front window that lets alot of light in. It is BYOB. The management is cordial and all entrees and rotis are top of their class. Try it, You will savor it. You will return and so will we.

Its as good as it gets!
I am a fan of any type Island food and I have to say Freda's is the best I have had in NYC. The jerk salmon,chicken and shrimp are nice and spicy without being impossible to eat. The roti's we always get to share because nobody can eat a whole one. In terms of the sides- must have the rice and peas which come with everything....but I love the plantains and mac and cheese....find the sweet potatoes a little too sweet - I find myself going back to that menu to order in time and time again. Going to have them cater my next party!
