Fratelli La Bufala

A mediocre pizza should no cost $19.00!! I wanted to try this restaurant because it looked cute from the outside, but I was extremely disappointed. Both the food and service were mediocre. I would not go back.

I tried two of the pizzas. Crust was good, but everything else was bland. It was almost inedible. Not worth the money. Also tried the ricotta dessert. It tasted like there were 5 cups of sugar in it. I took one bite and left the rest. Very sad. Nice service and people though.

I read all of the reviews but because I live in the neighborhood and we desperately need a decent pizza joint on Broadway, I gave this a shot despite them. I have lived in France and traveled in Italy where very thin crust pizza is the norm not the exception and have no problem with a knife and fork pizza. But this was a mess. I have never seen anything so underdone, soggy and tasteless as this. The waiter was genuinely apologetic, took the pizza off my bill and said sotto voce "We have been trying to tell them this" when I said it was flat out under cooked. Sad pizza was sad but the waiter got tipped anyway.

We arrived for lunch at 12:00, and only after we were seated, we were told that the kitchen was closed, and only pizza was available. Really? (The pizza was undercooked, and they used canned olives!)

This is a great addition to the UWS. Wonderful pizza. Perfect crust. Pasta was very good too. So glad to finally have a great pizza option in our neighborhood.

We tried FLB for the first time this evening, and will definitely return. The mozzarella was terrific. My wife had the smoked mozzarella pizza, I had the energy salad. The pizza was phenomenal - one of the top two or three I've had in New York. The salad was delicious, although the chicken and mozzarella skewers were unnecessary, in my opinion - the salad with tuna and cherry tomatoes was perfect. Our waitress was wonderful, although the kitchen was somewhat haphazard in sending dishes out to the table. On the other hand, we knew that none of our plates had spent any time waiting around for the others. The room was fun, although it was extremely loud - all the surfaces are hard and the room could do with some baffling over the ceiling or on the walls. Overall I'd highly recommend FLB.

We had the "Irpina" and the "Reale" pizze and they were very tasty. I liked the crust - chewy but not gummy. Wine was great too. The dessert - cannoli - was a tragedy on the other hand. They were dry and the ricotta was not creamy and too sugary.
