Great food, sullen service
Food was excellent. However, I do think the staff needs to lighten up a bit. Is it that difficult to smile? Having lived on Clinton Street since 1986, I must say it's wonderful to have a restaurant like Frankie's open up directly across from my Apt. Everything about Frankie's was warm and inviting, except our waiter.

Not incredible but very good
We've only eaten here once but will go back. The place won't knock your socks off but you'll leave here quite happy and knowing you had good solid tasty food. I wish the menu had more choices, though. The atmosphere is very cozy and, thank God, it's unpretentious. Great friendly service too and absolutely FANTASTICO meatballs!

Lovely little place
Good prosecco. The soppresata is great, goat's cheese a tad boring. The arugula and pecorino romano salad: perfect amount of dressing (so many places drown your salad) and the arugula was very fresh and tasty, it could have had a little more cheese on it but overall a very pleasing little dish. Lamb tagliatelle - gorgeous lamb, great sauce, although the pasta a little too soft. Topped off with a great creme brulee that we smelled before it came, nice touch! Not perfect by any means, but some very, very good Italian food, and a very pleasant atmosphere.

Finally ...
Finally a new restaurant on clinton that isn't a complete yuppie wasteland. with all the restaurants opening up in the lower east side that seem to attract people from the upper west side, new jersey, midtown, etc.....this one actually works because the food is really good. I went here on a friday with my girlfriend. I walked around for about 15 minutes until the host called me to let me know my table was ready. The host was friendly and honest about the wait time. Frankie's is small but if feels very casual so the size isn't really an issue. The decor is simple but cozy and effective. The crowd was pretty diverse which was cool. escarole soup was very good, the olive oil choice was excellent and used liberally. the cavatelli pasta was cooked perfectly and the sausage had the right ammount of saltiness.add a some browned sage butter and you have a great simple pasta dish. the antipasti platter was also simple but good. I would definitely come back, maybe a little later at night to appreciate the ambience more. The music they were playing was also excellent.

Simply Wonderful
This is really the cutest place ever! The food is so reasonable. You can do apps, dinner, dessert, coffe and a bottle of wine for 2 at about $105; take into consideration that we had a pricey bottle of wine! I had the pork chop and it was just delicious. The caesar salad is also the best I have ever had in a restaurant, bar none. For being open such a short time, they really do have everything down to a science. The only downside is the size. We got stuck sitting next to a really obnoxious girl who was too loud and talked way too much. I would like to see the owners implement a policy of no cell phones and be considerate of your fellow diners rule:) Other than that, I spectacular dining experience!

Food is Amazing!
Despite the small size of the out post, the food is impeccable! Not only are the prices so low that you are able to afford a bottle of wine, aps, entrees and dessert for about $50 pp, but the portions are so perfect, you'll feel full but not like you ate and entire round of cheese. The space is a bit awkward, tables so close together, but I have no problem forgetting about all that. May I please have more ravioli, and prunes, and wine and...

Great Spot
This is a great little restaurant! The food was amazing (order the Cavatelli, it was the best dish ordered at the table), the service was exceptional and there was a wonderful selection of wine. This place really is a treat.
