Came to restaurant via a friend's review. Decor was drab and cramped and our waiter was rather dull, but the meal made up for it! We were a party of 3. My husband and I ordered the Porterhouse for 2 and our friend had the T-bone. All of us+ could have eaten from the Porterhouse. It was huge, cooked correctly and could have been cut with a butter knife! The T-bone was huge and also delicious. Beware of portion size! I was pleased to see so many others enjoying their meals as well!

I look forward to my trips to NY because I know I will get to eat at Frankie and Johnnies..I have taken people there and the food has always been excellent..I very often go alone and sit at the bar upstairs the bartender is always friendly and helpful..great place, great food, and great atmosphere..I will be there the end of Oct and cannot wait..

I normally don't eat in the Times Square area when I head into the city. Can't expect much in a tourist area. But I had treated a guest to an exhibit and it made sense to eat nearby. Even with my lowered expectations, I was still disappointed in my dining experience. While the servers are friendly enough, they're really just order takers and food runners. Our server delivered my filet mignon, clearly without checking if it was cooked as I ordered it. I asked for medium, and it came out almost raw. In fairness, it was seasoned well and the outer portion was tasty, but the inside was the worst cut of filet I've ever had...anywhere. Lots of fat and very tough to cut. At no point did the server visit the table to check on our satisfaction. We poured our own wine. Not a big deal, really, but nicer places add that touch. The decor was mundane and the space very cramped. The coffee station was out in plain view, right next to a table of diners. The pictures on the wall included the standard fare of autographed celebs, but I think the most recent one was from 1980. Seriously, it was so obvious that this restaurant believes every patron is a one-time visitor, and they have no interest in making a good impression.

    Not Customer Oriented

We ate here once before and had a fairly good experience. This time, the service was slow or sometimes non-existent. All of the steaks in our party (of 4) were cooked correctly but had a lot of gristle. Getting a refill on a drink or coffee seemed to be an imposition. The crowning touch came when the waiter returned with my check and loudly announced my American Express card could not be read. There was some wear on the data stripe on the card so I suggested he key in the card info. He said "they couldn't do that" . I suggested he ask the owner or manager to try it and I bet it would work. It did. I approached a gentleman I perceived to be the manager as I was leaving and explained about the slow and surly service. He just muttered and turned away. As I went down the stairway to the exit, I saw his picture in a framed newspaper article - he was the owner! There's not much hope of any improvement here.

    A great dining experience

never been disappointed with the food or service. The place is small but that just adds to the charm and great service. The steaks are amazing ... can't wait to go back!

    Great food and dining experience

What a great dinner! Not a cheap meal but you get what you pay for. Huge 20+ oz Ribeye bone on cooked to mouth savory perfection. Wonderful tasting and large portions of side items as well. Small restaurant floor space on the second floor definitely makes it cozy, but a great atmosphere and personal service make it a wonderful experience. Walls filled with photos of former famous stars and guests coming to eat showing the history of this great place. Brush up on your knowledge of the stars as you never know who may be eating there with you, like us getting to meet a famous actor.
