Have Patience
You have two options: Either go to the restaurant and wait forever for a table. Or you can order in and wait forever for the delivery. Have patience. Our delivery took an hour last night... at 9 pm on a Sunday. I called and the guy who answered the phone was pretty rude about it. Love the food (great tomato sauce, great meatloaf although extremely mediocre eggplant parmesan) but their table manners have a lot to be desired.

The one place to come back too
Yes, Frank is a bit different. But this is NY, and for your money, you can't beat this place. It is tight and cramped, but that is what makes Frank so different, I have been there 5 times, and many times ended up sharing food with the neighboring tables. It's you Italian Grandma's cooking, for under 15 bucks an entre?, it's so cheap, I had a bottle of wine, 2 app's 2 entre?s and desert for well under 75$, tell me another place in NY you can get that good of a deal for amazing food? Don't let the small quirkyness scare you.. That is what makes Frank Amazing.

Who was my waiter?
Funky little family Italian joint. Great polpettone. Cool bar. But what's the deal with the service? I couldn't tell my waiter from the dishwasher, and he couldn't tell me anything about the food or wine. He had to get another employee when I asked for a drink and yet another when I asked for the check. Even worse, you can't tell who's an employee and who might have snuck into the restaurant to ask for spare change. With the exception of the host, they were all wearing dirty t-shirts and even dirtier jeans. Seriously. I have cleaner clothes in my hamper! Would it kill them to get a couple cute waitresses?

Yummy!
Been here twice and both times had delicious, simple, homemade Italian food. The mozzarella and tomato appetizer was amazing (Where do they get the tomatoes, they are the best I have ever had!) I also had a pasta special with wild mushrooms and truffle oil that was so good I ate it ALL. The portions are pretty decent for the price, but it is really crowded and the family style dining is a little awkward sometimes. But overall I love frank and will be there again soon.

Noisy, cramped and freakin great!
Frank is like NYC condensed into a restaurant -- loud, gritty, crowded, charming and indispensible. Somehow, it all works, and -- best of all -- the food is always satisfying. I have no idea how Frank gets summer-tasting tomatoes in the offseason, but his mozzarella-tomato appetizer is the best I've had. Obviously, the place seeks out quality ingredients, something that's evident in the arugula salad with parmigiano-reggiano shavings. The bread -- a key indicator of an Italian restaurant's quality -- is wonderfully dense and crusty, and the wine list is like a tour of Italy. Yeah, you're gonna be jostled and the buzz is gonna be high-decible. But bring some friends and you'll have a blast.

Cramped & Noisy
Was so disappointed with FRANK! Elbow to elbow in this tiny, dingy place sent me heading for the door ASAP. Better places right on the same block. Don't waste your time at FRANK.

Good food with drawbacks
Marvelous, simple Italian pan seared meats, and flavorful, rich pastas make for a good value. But the music is blaring and the service is pushy - too aggressive. Waiters appearing to be chummy, really want you to order the most expensive dishes on the menu. Just a main course isn't enough! After 5 or 6 visits this seems to be the policy.
