    When It's Time to Quit

As a years long fan of Frank, the decline I see means the owner or manager is no longer interested in the business. Much of the loss in quality comes from the inability to handle the higher volume of guests. Staff training and motivation are also responsible. Guests do not go to a restaurant to get excuses.

Not what it used to be...

This place got WAY pricey. The food is way salty as well. Lots of better in the neighborhood. Maybe if they lower their prices...their market will come back

WTF? mediocre food at babbo prices!?

I don't get it...why is my simple pasta dish taste terrible (i.e like pizza sauce mixed with low quality eat) and way too expensive (??)Tables are crammed together and I didn't appreciate hearing neighboring conversations throughout dinner....food quality used to be good and pricing used to be reasonable...but now both have gone steeply downhill. Not worth the trip at all. Avoid...also not worth the atittude at all...

Just so-so, will not be back

My husband and I recently visited NY and went to Frank for dinner. The reviews on this site looked good, so we thought we'd try it. The place was just strange. It's small, which is fine, but the bartender practically arm wrestled us to eat at the bar and when we told him we didn't want to he ignored us. The host was text messaging all night and was not attentive - I had to tell him we were waiting on a table 3 times. Finally, something came available and we jumped on it - had we not, the host would have let it go to someone else. The food was pretty good- we had an app & entree special and the menu salmon. The server was efficient once we got a seat. The prices were a little high considering the seating debaucle... there are better places and we will not be back!

    Overcharging

First off, you should know that the food here is excellent, and the service is above par. However, after inspection of my bill, they charged me $1-3 more for each item ordered. The menu prices (in house and online) both reflect less than what I was billed for. They claim they are "updating the menu". However, in retrospect - no business should charge more for their dishes without publicity notifying customers of the price increases. Plus the restaurant only accepts cash, which makes the whole operation all the more worth shady. You are better off going to a restaurant that accepts credit cards.

    one of the best

even though this restaurant doesnt have the chic and sexy decor us manhattanites are used to, it reminds us of nonna's kitchen and i have to say, the closest thing to authentic italian cuisine. after spending the summer in italy, Frank is one of the only italian restaurants I can go to when i want to pretend im back there! plus the portions are reasonable and the prices are good. service is soso and it can be crowded as hell but it's so worth it. wine list is top notch!

    Not what I was expecting....

Food was ok - wine list was great. Restaurant itself is a dump. Not was I was expecting at all. Went for my anniversary - looking for something on the nice side - the place looks like its been partly demolished - paint peeling off the walls, exposed pipes all over the place, plaster hanging everywhere. Its one thing to look "rustic", its another thing to look decrepit. Anyway - on top of the "decor" - the food was only ok.
