flavorless. even salt & pepper wd help

Make sure you discuss menu at length with host in this gloriously decorated "tea house". Vegan gluten free should not mean bland. Thai food is hot, sour and has umami. This Pad Thai had no flavor, salt or even heat. The noodles under the insipid sauce were gluey. Spoonsful of house chili sauces barely added heat. No salt pepper vinegar on table. Thorough disappointment in spite of charming staff and decor.

    Wonderful!

I came here last night for a friend's birthday. The atmosphere was quiet and zen and the food was tasty! My boyfriend and I are not vegan but we left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied.

    Zen and tasty too

Lovely setting and atmosphere. I would eat here all the time and I'm not even vegan. I've tried the tea set and the lunch/dinner specials, and both are a relatively good deal. The tea set comes with 2 teas, which is fun. Try the peking "duck" buns and the hot stone rice bowls!

    Zen and Delish

I tend to forget about Franchia, but each time I go back I remember how amazing it is. The atmosphere is zen and the smells are intoxicating. The food is delicious and unique. I recommend Franchia. Note you might need a reservation. We had a wait on a weeknight.

    A must go!

This place is amazing. I never wrote a review of any restaurant, after going here, i am compelled to write one. We went there to celebrate our 5th marriage anniversary, the ambiance, service, food everything were beyond expectation. It is a bit pricey, but for special occasions, it is worth it. We are staunch vegetarians and in this place we did not have to think 10 times before we ordered... EVERYTHING IS VEGAN. Oh!! did i mention those wonderful teas, they are a must try.. i tried one of the berry fruit teas, it was amazing... not a very crowded place, it is a very peaceful dining experience ....please go.

Fresh food full of flavoes and tea

This place is special. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared. Unlike many places that hide the mediocre food in overly strong sauces, Franchia uses spice and sauce to enhance the fresh food. The faux meat tastes like especially high quality real meat, the vegetables are perfectly seasoned. The main dishes and the appetizers are delicious. One taste every crisp and distinct flavor in their dish. The restaurant gives chili paste on the side to mix in with your food. Be wary it is delicious but strong. The kim-chi dumplings are delicious Not as spicy as one would expect and perhaps hope, but fresh and interesting tasting. The 'chicken' satais comes with a delicious delicate sauce. The Tofu with kabocha pumpkin is a revelation! The rice dishes,as is true with much Korean food was delicious but overwhelmed by too much rice. And the tea! Did I mention the tea? I had no idea that fresh first green tea could be so different than any tea I have ever had. Sure it is $10.00 but it is better than many $10.00 mixed drinks. The waiter was very helpful in explaining how to steep and pour the tea. When we went it was not crowded. The atmosphere was quiet and intimate. Next time I will try the tea tasting menu.
