Payard is back on the UES after a long absence. He has been missed. The new place is mostly a patisserie in the front but does have a bar and a back salon. Very new, unseasoned wait staff in the back. They hardly speak English which I found shocking. Could not answer basic questions. Hostess lovely but they really need better trained waiters especially in a place like this and its cramped quarters. The food was as good as I remember particularly the salmon croque monsiuer and the salade nicoise. Desserts are well heavenly as is the espresso. Still working out a few clinks but once that is taken care of I can see myself once again as a Payard regular.
