pretty darn tootin' for NYC BBQ

As a serious NYC BBQ skeptic I was pretty impressed by this place. Consistent level of quality across meats and sides. Pulled pork had a perfect texture and moist flavor. Pork ribs were the same, with a slightly bland dry rub - but the flavor opened up with a dab of the spice heavy sauce. Collards were outstanding, avoiding the pork drenched approach. Well done y'all!

    Meh

When we arrived and were told "first come first served" with regards to seating, the bartender shrugged apologetically saying it wouldn't be long (his exact line for everyone who came in) - I had to interrupt a couple already sitting to request use of the other half of their table set up (their coats and bags had apparently finished eating). If he had even NOTICED their use of 2X the space, it would have been nice. The pulled pork was sort of dry, ordered as sliders it was utterly smothered in vaguely sour cole slaw (for moisture purposes I assume) - the best part of those were the buns. The "fresh squeezed lemonade" tastes stunningly like a giant glass of Sour mix and water. Burns the throat. Brisket had a LOT of fat trimming which we had to cut off ourselves. Mac and cheese was bland. Corn bread was the bright spot on our giant tray, and I'm rating it a 7. The entire meal was overly hyped and totally "Blah". We left in the mood to go somewhere else and eat something satisfying, though we were full. Very Disappointed.

    Everything was great

This was a delivery order which is why I didn't comment on the atmosphere or service. The brisket was tender and flavorful. I added hot sauce both for taste and because the meat was a bit dry. The collards and cole slaw were very tasty. The corn bread was moist and had a wonderful flavor. Definitely, a winner.

    Scrumptious BBQ

Delicious BBQ. Share a set of sides and dig into some brisket or tender BBQ chicken. Lots of sauces to choose from. It's a bit small, so maybe take that party of 12 elsewhere. Also fun bathroom sink.
