    Go there on a Tuesday!

...because everything runs out by the weekend! The fluke sashimi is delicious, so is the kakuni pork, and I like the miso cod better at FC than at Nobu!

    Awesome Dimsum!

Both the dimsum sampler and the Chilean Sea Bass were melt-in-your-mouth delectable - awesome! We were very glad that we found this on Menupages.com. I would recommend this very highly to anyone that likes dimsum and/or seafood. Have to try - green tea creme brulee - brilliant!

    Best late night dining!

Smoked duck salad, beef tataki, shrimp and spinach dumplings, sesame tofu AND always the salt and pepper squid. Great Asian inspired food and extensive sake list (try the Midnight Moon). The staff is really attentive as well. This is the place you'll see local restaurant owners grabbing their dinner!

    Great Birthday Spot!

I had my 30th Bday party here in Dec. It was between Forbidden City and another asian influenced restaurant/lounge venue. The reason I chose FC, and so glad I did, was for 2 reasons: 1. Cost - dinner and many drinks, $60 pp 2. Manager - Ron As most of you are aware, birthday dinners get expensive. Not just the dinner, but primarily the drinking. And at most of these venues with fun cocktails the cocktails are $10 a pop or more... FC not withstanding... BUT... Ron (night mgr) worked with me on a HAPPY HOUR RATE on the cocktails for a few hours - $7 Stoli cocktails rather than $10-$12! He was very accomodating and just reassured me that we would have a great time. And we did! Plus the food was inexpensive and delish! And the perfect food for a bday party that was going to continue all night since they have mostly light dishes and a great [select]ion of dumplings & apps. Must get the calamari! The venue itself is more restaurant/bar than restaurant/lounge with a casual fun asian decor and bar nightlife. They allowed us to have fun without being all pretenious and stuffy like I knew the other more upscale venue would be.

    Great place!

If you're into pan-asian cuisine, then Forbidden City is the place for you. Japanese style seafood, Chinese dim sum and Thai-influenced dishes are all there for the having. The salt & pepper squid, beef sashimi, and pork rolls are particulary worth noting for their excellence. Most choices on the menu are worth a try though. Quality and freshness is high. If you have trouble deciding, the helpful (and great looking) waitstaff will be glad to assist you. Just as exciting as the food are the drinks! Try one of their many varied "house drinks" for a wild taste ride. The Leche martini most especially stands out as unique and exciting. Sake (warm and cold) is of the highest quality; usually they have 5-9 different for varieties for your pleasure. If you cant decide, cant go wrong with the warm house Sake... nicely served in a faux wooden bowl with accompanying cups. There are some who'd call it superman juice! No "normal" beers however, which ends being a good thing really. Makes the whole experience more authentic. Try the San Miguel, a fine Filipino beer. Weekdays are better for eating and drinking in a more relaxed environment. The weekends are noticeably wilder and the scene becomes quite loud with the tons of 20-30 somethings looking for a good time. Tons of singles (male and female) though if thats your thing and the retro reggae, rock and hip-hop keep the flow going. All in all, a great restaurant/bar to check out. A jewel of a place on avenue A...

    Overall very good

Try the seared duck and wasabi octopus...both are very good as well as the salt and pepper squid. Service is always great, even when it gets crowded. If you want to go to try the food, go there earlier to beat the bar crowd that usually starts around 10-11pm on the weekends.
